I’m sorry for all of you who have the pressure from friends, family, and schools…
I’m from Indiana, which I doubt is one of the most represented states, but a solid number of people from my school go to Ivies (especially Harvard and Cornell for some reason) each year (including a few Questbridge, which had a Yale acceptance last year and already a UPenn this year), and sometimes Stanford, MIT — and a lot of Notre Dame.
So there’s basically no pressure and not a ton of excitement for those who get in to top schools. Maybe that’s strange, maybe not.
And I’m not from the part of Indiana that is considered the “smartest”, either. The central part of the state has a ton of very exceptional students. I can’t imagine if schools only took one from Indiana.
This is all very interesting to hear from different people across the country and abroad discuss their experiences. Best of luck.
@elijaheliot It probably just means that they haven’t activated it yet. Try to stay calm and do as much as you can to keep yourself busy for the next 50 hours or so. My son applied EA and I can hardly wait to find out. He says he is expecting a rejection so he won’t be disappointed. I go back in forth in my mind of being sure of an acceptance and then thinking probably a rejection. Also, he never was contacted for an interview, so I’m not sure if that means he was No right away so they didn’t bother with an interview (even though I think his stats are great and Yale is the perfect school for him). Stay calm!
@phsstudent17 Good luck to you as well, glad your school isn’t all crazy about all that stuff. I’m from Poland, my school never had anyone in the Ivy League so its quite understandable that US Top schools are truly a big deal here. So pressure is high, failure with hurt double, but possible success[there is always chances] would be quadruple more exciting, so its high risk high reward I guess
Until someone says that the site works for them and provides proof, I’m not checking that page early, I never thought I’m superstitious, but I guess this time I am
@Runner99 He had a 2350 super score on old SAT (2290 and 2300 separate sittings), did not take the new one or the ACT. He had 4 subject tests which were Latin 700. World History 740. Math II 730 and US History 770. He is in top 5% of his class, though the school doesn’t actually rank officially. He has taken 4 AP classes and the test scores were all 5s. He has some good community service long term stuff and he plays a varsity sport. Maybe he was too light on APs or should have done more with school council or something, but we wanted him to enjoy High School also. He is planning on majoring in Political Science.
