guys the portal only started working 3 hrs before decision last year, so I think we should chill.
@Houston1021 that’s so sweet of you!! Thank you, I hope so too, and I hope your daughter and I will get the chance to be classmates!
oh my lord how is a countdown supposed to keep me calm 2 days 1 hour?! at least my finals went really well lol
I have a final on Thursday ugh
Two of my best friends hear from Harvard in 45 minutes and my stomach is in knots for them. I wonder what Thursday will be like.
Good luck to them!
Can we take a minute to appreciate that Yale has
- been upfront the entire time about when decisions are going to be released
- had no portal glitches (this year)
- not randomly decided to call some applicants with offers of admission
- and will hopefully have a smooth portal update
Been so much less stressful than it could have been
True! @Gh0st3737
Yeah the Harvard thread has been stressful just observing. Kind of surprised at the unprofessionalism of their portal updates (Brown’s too).
@Gh0st3737 This is one of the reasons I love Yale, they’re always so on top of things and they’re actually respectful to the kids that applied early
Let’s all predict how many kids Yale takes early! I’m going to say 890 (it was 795 last year)
It seems like Yale puts more effort into learning about someone’s personality than Harvard. We had an essay on our major, a why Yale, four quick responses, and two supplemental essays. Harvard only has an optional essay. How are you not a number to Harvard?
Very true @jhosk10 I’ve felt that as well
I feel like the dude in the Titanic movie cuz he obsesses over the diamond and it’s right there with the old lady and then it’s a romantic story about a relationship forming then the relationship sinks in the North Atlantic and the old lady takes that diamond and throws it away for ever. Yale and I are Jack and Rose and my acceptance is the god damn diamond!
@yalehopeful017 - - I think you’re on the mark with your estimate for the number of Yale SCEA offers this year . . . I think it might even go as high as 925 or so based on the enlarged class size . . . .
@PicoLA but didnt most news say that the enlarged class size will only truly affect the regular admissions pool?
Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard as well. They’re reserving more spots for the new residential colleges for regular admissions round. A little bit more than 850 might be a good number.
why would they do that^?
Not sure, but I found the link to the article (it says it in the 2nd paragraph): http://yaledailynews.com/blog/2016/11/04/yale-acceptance-rate-set-to-increase/
I don’t think they reserve certain spots for RD. If adcom likes you, you should get accepted early.
