Remember to send a deferral letter! It might act as another college essay to show who you really are.
2 people in my grade got in. one of them is one of my best friends. omg.
which school are you from? can you post more stats?
Deferred!!
Accepted!!!
My son got deferred. He’s happy that he knows he still has a chance.
ACCEPTED!!!
accepted from upstate new york! very confused as to how this happened… good luck to everyone who got deferred! I was confident i was going to be rejected
@ethanj0hn Oh I’m from an average south suburban school. Not ranked anywhere or anything.
Major: Computer Science
ACT: 34, 35 superscored (only 25 and 26 writing)
No SAT Subject Tests or SAT
Polish immigrant (white, moved here when I was 6), very few resources in family, girl, kind of low income, only child, first generation
AP Classes: Macro (4), Micro (5), CS (4), Calc BC (5), APUSH (5), Lang (4), Gov (4), Physics C: E&M/Mech, AP Lit, AP Bio
Also took Linear Algebra, Calc 3, Intro to CS and Advanced CS at a local community college (4.0 GPA there)
GPA: 3.88, 4.7 weighted, top 5% out of 600 (class rank isn’t reported, but mine is a little lower than most would expect at my school because I transferred high schools)
Activities/Etc: Model UN Exec Board Member, Speaker of the House at Illini Girls State, Science Achiever at the Museum of Science and Industry, Math tutor, English tutor, Scholastic Bowl, Illinios Tech Pretrans Program, JTB-APO Law Camp, French Club/French Honor Society, NHS, Phi Alpha Theta, AP Scholar with Distinction, some pointless Illinois award, Intern at computer repair company, prob stuff I’m forgetting
Rec Letters: Prob outstanding, idk fam, but all of my recommenders love me
Essays: I WROTE THEM THE NIGHT OF LOL. I realized last minute I could apply early. If someone wants to read them I can PM them. One was about my Polish identity, another about all the things that got me interested in CS, my role in the community as a translator? was that for this school? Talked about how Yale is my top choice bc I could actually afford it, and the struggle of basically being alone throughout my academic career
Interview: my interviewer liked me, said I have a good chance. I talked a lot about how I worked to overcome my shyness with becoming Speaker of the House and presenting at the museum, also about how I worked on my essay skills.
There is a results thread.
Deferred! Congrats to everyone who got in though. Does anybody know the statistics of the percentage of deferred students receiving an acceptance in March? Do we have an advantage over first-time applicants?
I think less. But we still have a chance :3
@yalehopeful017 oh well, I’m sure when spring decisions come there will be a few schools that will take me! I guess Yale wasn’t meant to be (unless I get in in the spring). Let me know if you get in! Best of luck!
@rebecca12345 Thanks! I will! Good luck in the regular round❤️
How’d it go @yalehopeful017 ?!
@nate1991 Waiting to open it until tomorrow…the wait is killing me. What happened with you?
Accepted! This entire process was crazy, but I’ve learned so much from it. So excited to study in New Haven next year!
My D was deferred. She is disappointed but is ready to finish up the applications to other schools on her list. If by some miracle she gets in Yale in the regular round, she would be proud to attend.
Accepted!
