Yale still hasn't contacted me for an interview...

I live in an area where others I know have been contacted for interviews and most have already had them. Some of them were from my school. My application is complete and everything was in before the deadline. My GPA/SAT are not low enough to warrant an immediate rejection. Why didn't I get an interview? Is it just random chance?

When did you turn in the app? My son doesn’t get any request as well, though we live in silicon valley which I believe it should have many alumi interviewers available. My son turned in his app just a day before deadline.

I turned it in one or two days before the deadline. I received a confirmation and the application status says everything is complete, so I’m not really sure why I didn’t get an interview. Maybe I should have turned it in earlier, which I could have done without too much stress, but I didn’t realize.

Daughter still hasn’t as yet been contacted.

Don’t worry. Not getting an interview shouldn’t hurt your chance. :)

I didn’t get an interview at all. You’ll be fine.

"My GPA/SAT are not low enough to warrant an immediate rejection. Why didn’t I get an interview? Is it just random chance? "

No interviews are pre-sorted. The fact you’ve not been interviewed is not related to your relative chances. Why haven’t you been interviewed? A variety of reasons – but all chance. Maybe your name is just at the lower end of the list of assignments. Maybe you’ve already been assigned but the alum has forgotten about you in his/her email. Who knows. But it’s NOTHING to be concerned about. Trust me (I’ve been interviewing for 20+ years – and have four this weekend!)

I’ll add to the “don’t worry” theme: my son had interviews with 3 of the other schools he applied to, but not Yale. He’s a Yale '15 and loving it.

Same with my D. Her Yale app was complete well before the deadline. Another student from her high school applied to Yale has already had a Yale interview, but not her. I just can’t imagine there are that many Yale applicants from our area (it’s somewhat rural) that some would get interviews and others would not. So, we figured she was already rejected even though her GPA/SAT did not seem to warrant it. Hmmmm…guess we’ll think more positive thoughts.

OK thanks. So it won’t hurt me?

Correct .
