Yale, timing for athletic's hook (track)-urgent

I have a question, has anyone here been recruited for Yale to run track (400m and 800m)? would like to blog on this. My son entering senior year in HS, good academics, scores and EC's and sub 2 minute 800m but if get below 1:56 in 800m in early winter, is this too late to be noticed by Yale? Would be applying regular action.

Well, my story's a little bit different, but I hope it helps all the same.

I'm currently a prospective student athlete for Yale on the crew level. What I did to get noticed was I emailed the coaches a form letter about myself and why I'm interested in that particular school. I also included my race results and stats.

I emailed them earlier this summer, but if you email coaches now I don't think it will be too late to talk to the coaches, especially if you plan on applying RD.

Hi MiPerson,

My D is a Yale freshman running track and XC. She was an Ivy recruit. The person you need to talk to is the Yale track coach. Your son should send an email directly to the head coach, Mark Young. It should include his academic credentials like GPA, class rank, SAT I and II scores, ACT, any AP scores, and a summary of EC's. Then list his PR's and athletic accomplishments: city, district, state, national level finishes for context: maybe he's not the fastest guy in the nation, but he's beating the local talent? I think we both know a sub-2 is good but not remarkable, and I would guess you are correct that a sub-1:56 bumps him in to a much more competitive position.

I assume you know about likely letters. Because Yale has SCEA, they offer these letters in October so that athletes know where they stand with Yale and can decline likely letters or letters of intent from other schools.

By Nov. 1 the coach can probably tell you if the middle distance spots have already been snapped up, then you would know if there is any chance for him in RD.

PM (or email) me if you like. There are a few things I would rather not share on the public board, but am happy to talk about privately.
