A fellow applicant I know from my state hasn’t received theirs yet.
I believe the AO sends “batches” of names of applicants it wants to interview to the local alumni coordinators. The coordinators then assign interviews to volunteers. The individual volunteer interviewer then emails/calls the applicant. Because there is a chain of people involved, the timing of contact with the interviewees can be highly dispersed.
Interviews are really granted if the alumni association in your area is not busy and have time to interview. The alumni association website in our location which is one of the biggest metropolitan areas was asking for more alumni to be involved and help with interviews. So it’s nothing to fret- too many applicants and not enough alumni who want to interview so I don’t think interviews really make or break the application.
Okay, that makes sense. Thank you!
I heard there’s another round of interviews starting on the 20th of November, do you know if more applicants in the same region (e.g. Canada east coast) will be sent interview requests in this round because of the rolling interview admissions?
I don’t know any specifics. I just know that we were given different deadlines to complete our reports based on when we get the interview assignment.
Great, thank you for all your information!
can I know if they’ve already taken a look at my application? if the answer’s yes, how?
@Have_faith143 That makes sense, thank you. What interests me is that while my interviewer (according to my brief Googling) grew up near where I live, they work quite far away, so we’re doing a Zoom. Maybe they’re considering geography differently? Another friend of mine who’s applying to a different elite school was interviewed by someone who said that they were based in a place 6 hours away from where we live.
Are you from Canada’s east coast? If you wish, we could communicate the progress with each other continue. Thank you!
Sure, that would be great!
Hi all, I’m curious if anyone from Asia has got an interview?
Anyone from VA with an interview yet? Thanks!
From MD–I had my interview earlier this past week, I got my interview request on Nov 8th saying we needed to set up an interview for the following week. The interview was super nontraditional–the interviewer said they view these as a chance to help the applicant as much as they can. They started with a ~15-min talk about themselves and how they came to Yale, then asked me to tell them about myself. There were a few questions after that, mostly based on what I told them and to get insight into my thinking process, and an opportunity to ask a few questions at the end. The interview went for an hour how is everyone feeling about decisions coming out in less than a month?
My interview was like that, too! I spent a ton of time on the Q&A; my interviewer and I happened to both have very similar interests and come from very similar backgrounds, so I really got to learn a lot about some very specific aspects of campus life from them!
I honestly can’t stop thinking about my decision…the date that’s listed on the portal happens to be my last day of school before break, and I feel like I’m going to spend the entirely of the next few weeks just waiting…I have so little motivation to work on RDs it’s astounding.
Has anyone from the NJ/NY area gotten interviews?
Pretty sure (if the sources are reliable) that there’s a 2nd round of interviews starting today
Hi, I’m from Japan, and haven’t got an interview.
I’m really scared that what if I’m already rejected😭 Did you get one?
No… I’m from China, and haven’t heard anyone get an interview yet. I hope they just haven’t finished reading all the Asia apps
Oh, OK…
Since I have no friends who aim to go to US universities, I’m so lonely but this thread gives me courage!
U.S admission process is so stressful
I hope both of us get a good result!!
it sure is a rough ride
Thanks for the kind words, I’ll try to update you about any news I hear!
