Admits without interviews must be strong applicants with files that give a strong sense of consistency and focus.
so if u got an interview does it mean you arenāt as strong or?
Just regular FA required forms like parentsā tax return, w2, schedules, etc. I submitted those in time back in Oct and FA checklist page has shown all green checkmark until few days ago (11/29), two new missing documents appeared on portal.
If you are comparing an admit without an interview with an otherwise identical admit with an interview in the same ASC, the implication is the admit without an interview clearly answered Yaleās personal/fit questions in their application alone, and the person with the interview may have needed the interview to do the same.
This is a very narrow hypothetical, and of course they were both admitted anyway. So, I would suggest it is perhaps not worth too much time dwelling on what it meant if you were admitted with, or admitted without, an interview.
Iāve pretty much lost all hope for being admitted, but as the days go by I just want to go to Yale so badly An early congrats to everyone who gets in, and for those who donāt we just have to trust that everything will work out in the end
it will. we will go where weāre meant to go as cheesy as that sounds its so true.
Idk I feel like my application was extremely focused and consistent (to the point where it feels almost too packaged) but I got an interviewā¦
As a parent of a student who applied RD last year, let me say all these signs and clues mean absolutely nothing. My kid had all the signs and clues that he was getting in. He had the senior interview, the id, financial aid asking for certain documents, etcā¦ it created a lot of stress and it meant nothing. He didnāt get in. It worked out because he got into Harvard. But please just relax and dont get worked up about all this portal stuff. It means nothing. The only thing that matters is the letter on decision day.
@Dphinphan I remember you from last year. Similar story here Agree with you All these signs mean nothing. None of it was true. It only stressed everyone out even more.
Region? Where are you applying from?
Bible Belt where there arenāt that many applicants (5-8 from my state are accepted each year)
I would be shocked if our state sends 3 kids a year to Yale.
Check for yourself here: First Year Students by Geographic Origin (W026) | Office of Institutional Research
I guess our state is mid-level competitive
Keep in mind that these tables show stats from first-years, not accepted students. So with Yale yield rate at around 70%, multiply all those numbers by abt 1.4 to get accepted estimates.
kinda a good thing, mine was the opposite i showed like 10395995 different qualities and aspects of my personality it was semi consistent but not really. also got an interview too lol
Hello.
For art portfolio, how many art paintings and drawings should be ? Can i input photo graph either? Please help me.
My two cents is since interviews seem focused on the more subjective and personal factors, it is nearly impossible to really know why, say, a reader might have suggested prioritizing an applicant for an interview. At a very high level we know that means they think a report from a neutral party might provide useful information. But what that actually means for a given applicant? I doubt that is ascertainable.

For visual artists, they ask you to limit your portfolio to 5 to 8 pieces. I am sure photography is included in visual arts.
Question on the common app letters of reco. Yale under the common app allows for a counselor and two teachers. My kiddo would like to add a third one (our Assemblymember for whom she interned). She went to invite other recommender (thereās a widget that exists) but looks like she canāt add additional recommenders. User error or is it a strict Yale thing. My S21 had three teachers set up when he applied back then and donāt recall if each college had a different max number. Thanks!
