Yale vs Columbia ED?

Both are basically my Reach schools. I realised I couldn't apply to both since Yale's under SCEA :( I'm wondering which one has a better Political Science or Economics program?

Besides those two, I have the following colleges on my list, but I don't really know what I should designate as my reach/match/safety schools. Could someone help me out?

Colleges:
Brown
Dartmouth
Duke
Georgetown
North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Northwestern
NYU
UCB
UCLA
UChig
UMich
UPenn
USC

If anyone can suggest colleges that have strong polsci/econs/business programs, that'll be great too.

My preferences: lower teacher-student ratio, interactive environment/undergrad-focused, approachable staff, good mix of study and fun, student population is mid-range, good undergrad housing, financial aid if possible.

Any advice will be helpful!

MY STATS:
- Asian female. International.
- First language: English

SAT I: 2260 - 79 CR, 78 M, 69 W

SAT II: Taking in Oct

EC's:
- Club - Editorial/Magazine, 10th
- Club - Computer Science, 11-12th
- Sports - Sailing, 9th, 11-12th, school team.

Brown, Dartmouth, and Penn have the lowest acceptance rates (after Yale and Columbia).

Georgetown wins at polisci

Penn wins at business

UChig wins at economics

And they are all phenomenal and selective schools. You will do well at any of them in the fields of biz, econ, and psci--if you get in, of course! I don't think any of these schools could be classified as a safety.

yale and columbia are seriously comparable for any kind of major, but for polsci Yale probably wins in terms of reputation... and the number of polsci majors wanting to be US President.

for econs, i dun see any diff between yale and columbia

You might want to consider applying to Princeton instead of Columbia. Princeton is more undergraduate focused, has a much stronger econ department (stronger than Yale's too), and has need-blind admission for internationals. Columbia is need-award and has very limited aid for international students. Princeton, Yale, and Columbia are very similar in terms of political science.

At this level Departmental ranks are useless. The reality is that Yale and Princeton are slightly more prestigious than Penn, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Brown. All of them, quite frankly however, are amazing schools. choose the one you will enjoy the most.
