Yale

m currently a junior at a top 100 public school, I have a 4.1 GPA on a 5.33 scale (weighted) and a 31 on ACT (have yet to take SAT and have only taken ACT 1 time, hoping to stop at 33) . I am around top 10 percent in my class. My brother goes to Yale and I am Hispanic. With legacy and minority status, what do you think my chances are?

I am involved in the math league, a member of NHS, I tutor at the YMCA as well as my neighbor, played lacrosse every year, football for 1 year, mostly A's and some B's in full AP and honors. I went to the Dominican Republic over the summer as a service trip. I write for the school newspaper as well as being a junior officer for our Amnesty International club. I worked over the summer at a day camp for kids. I am in a few other clubs but they are insignificant. Can these EC so far and legacy/minority status give me at least a chance of getting into Yale? I would early action too.

Unfortunately, your stats even as a Hispanic are a bit low. You will only have a chance if you craft an extremely persuasive application.

I only ask because I know my brother’s roommate is not so bright but he mainly got in because his roommate’s brother was on the football team.
