Chances-please help soon!

hey,
im a white male from new york city
I go to a private school that does not rank, but have maintained a grade average of 92.0/100.

SATs:

Math: 690
CR: 660
Writing: 710

Total: 1350/2060 - but i am retaking them hoping for 2150 (i will probably reach this goal)

SAT II-Math IC-730

EC's: Varsity BBall-two years
JV BBall-two years
Varsity Soccer: 2 years
Institute for Civic Leadership- 2 years
School Newspaper: 1 year

I am very active socially, and am planning the first of many teen events to raise money for charity in the fall.

I balance my social life, academics, and sports.

Please inform me of my chances of being accepted to yale. thanks alot.

I know my stats are low, but i am applying EA as a reach, hoping my other character traits aid me in the admissions process.

any input?

I'd say you have very little chance- "I balance my social life, academics, and sports"- schools don't care about balancing social life. Anyway, you don't have amazing Grades and Test scores that you'll be applying against and your EC's aren't stellar. You could still apply, but I think you're waisting $75. I don't mean to be flipant, but I am being honest.

rejected sorry

agreed!!!!

haha thanks- i am actually just applying to yale as a long shot. but as far as sats go, with the math, i got two of three sections perfect and the other one was an extremely difficult section(i was averaging 760 before the test), so on my next test i should be significantly higher. also, on the writing section, i got every multiple choice question correct, but freaked out on the essay and didnt finish it, so i got a 6 out of 12. on my writing section on the next test, i will have practiced the essay writing and time management skills, and will probably be above 750. As far as CR goes, i have a tutor, so with practice, i will easily be in the range of 2150-2300 overall. that said, all my classes are IB and many higher level, and i made Headmasters List, as well (A average in every class). I am most likely in the top 10% of my class, but am not sure cause my school is competitive, my school does not rank, and i have 70 students in my grade. I was a founding member of the Institute for Civic Leadership, a worldwide organization, i volenteer for Habitat for humaity (building houses for underprivelged children), interned at a medical malpractice lawfirm for 3 years, am an editor for my school newspaper(no one really reads it haha, not even me), and was a camp counseler in training.

regarding social skills, by being socially active in new york city, i have made connections with the children of billion dollar men, celebrities, athletes and more. i am setting up an auction with donations from these connections, to raise money for the Save the Children Foundation. With some of this money, i am also going to set up a club event in the city, and donate all profits to the same organization.

I am also hoping to be my 12th grade class representitive to the faculty at my school as well as a member of the honor counsil.

I left out a lot of information about myself and my life in the last post--any new comments?

probably still no chance hahahahaha

If it's your dream go ahead and apply, but I do think that with your stats your chances are quite slim. If you're willing to dish out the $75 then just do it... you never know!

ohhhh, your last post is MUCH better.

"I am most likely in the top 10% of my class, but am not sure cause my school is competitive, my school does not rank, and i have 70 students in my grade. I was a founding member of the Institute for Civic Leadership, a worldwide organization, i volenteer for Habitat for humaity (building houses for underprivelged children), interned at a medical malpractice lawfirm for 3 years, am an editor for my school newspaper(no one really reads it haha, not even me), and was a camp counseler in training."

you certainly have a chance, then! founding civic institute thing, volunteering, interning at a law firm, editor of newspaper, setting up an auction...you show a lot of initiative, and it seems you have good grades/rank. ok i changed my mind. you do have a chance. do try to raise those test scores--since you seem to be capable (usually when people claim they can do a lot better i dont believe them but you might actually pull it off!)

hey thanks alot. sorry they banned my other user name cause i got angry at a kid who was being immature and rude.

so anyway, even with all of these activities, Yales acceptance rate is so low that admission will be very tough. do you know of any other stratagies i can use to help me get in?

btw thank you being honest without being out of line.

I hope you didn't leave that information off intentionally. I think I was the kid who was being immature and rude. I think they took my post off as well. But come on, did you really think that was funny. That might have been one of the most immature posts I've ever seen. Is that more PC for you?

im posting on this to help me realize some information about the schools i want to attend, and i dont know what you are talking about with the entire "did you think that was funny" stuff. but honestly, just dont reply to this because i dont care what you have to say, and you are not helping me or anyone with the college admissions process, so, bye

wow. ok. getting back to the point of this thread...
brandon, or whatever your name is, I think the best thing you can do for yourself is to get straight As senior year. Take the hardest classes. Retake the SATs.
Most importantly, don't present your application the way you presented your first post--you left out a bunch of very important stuff that works in your favor. Make sure to indicate on the app that you were: "a founding member of the Institute for Civic Leadership, a worldwide organization, i volenteer for Habitat for humaity (building houses for underprivelged children), interned at a medical malpractice lawfirm for 3 years, am an editor for my school newspaper(no one really reads it haha, not even me), and was a camp counseler in training..."
Also talk about the auction thing. This stuff is really impressive, but if you don't talk about it colleges will never know.

I didn't mean to be unhelpful, but when you put some of your info down and then waited until everyone had posted reviews to post all your info looked a bit concieted. Probably because you prefaced with something like not so desperate now hahahahahaha, or whatever you said. I guess the sentiment was hard to translate via the web, but to me it just sounded a little self promoting. Sorry to get you so wrilled up.

its all good, im sorry too. i was really lazy and wanted to put some basic info out without typing out all my ECs for my first post cause i didnt have the time to type that all out, i didnt do it to be conceited

Okay, I got the wrong idea. I though you were just trying to make us do a 180 on you or something, you know, on purpose. My bad. Good EC's and good luck.
