Yay! Chances! And other miscellaneous stuff too!

I'm a rising senior with a definite interest in math / physics / engineering / computer science and Harvey Mudd just seems to be exactly the kind of school I'm looking for. I was wondering about my chances of actually getting in, though.

Uhhh... Stats?
GPA: I'm not quite sure, actually, but it's fairly good and certainly in the top 10% (Though my school doesn't do class rank) Math and science classes are straight As, though.

SAT: 2250, 800 math, 700 CR, 750 writing
SAT Subjects: 800 math II, 800 chem, 800 physics

Don't have an abundance of ECs; I've been on math team and science olympiad since 9th, won or at least placed in a bunch of local math competitions, qualified for AIME, placed 2nd in my region for the AAPT Physics Bowl, and am currently involved in some very extensive research with one of the physics professors at the university.

Also taking Physics C at the university this summer, (since my school doesn't offer it) and Applied Linear Algebra and Calc III during this coming school year.

Oh yeah, and I'm an Asian male (sigh) from New York.

Another question, does anyone know the ED acceptance percentages from the latest year? And what are some other alternative schools to Harvey Mudd with an intense focus on science, math and techy stuffs?

You're looking good for Harvey Mudd. I don't think being Asian will hurt you. This is a no-brainer, but you can apply to MIT and CalTech as well.

Ya, I would say you have a good shot at getting into Harvey Mudd. Its not definite, but you fit the profile.

Other techy schools:
Caltech
MIT
Carnegie Mellon
Rose Hulman Institute of Technology
Olin

Oh and on a side note, if u go to HMC it looks like you will be guaranteed a scholarship for $10,000 for your SAT scores/class rank, certainly a nice bonus.

Pwn,
You look like a competitive applicant for Mudd to me.

My D is going to Mudd in the fall, and like you, is a techy/math/physics type person. The other schools to which she applied were:

Caltech
MIT
Olin
Columbia SEAS
Case Western
University of Maryland

This produced nice choices in April, including several merit scholarship offers.
Best of luck to you.

You look like you have a good chance of getting in. About three years ago, the ED rate was in the high 40% range while the RD rate was in the mid 30s. The RD rate is now in the mid to low 20% range, so you would have to somehow extrapolate from there.

I either applied to or was going to apply (I got into Mudd ED, so I didn't get decisions from most schools) to many of the schools that other people listed. Definitely apply to Rose Hulman because they have a free and very easy application if you apply before December 1, and they let you know in 2 or 3 weeks. It's nice to know that you got into college while you wait for your other letters. I planned to apply to:
Olin
Cornell engineering
Carnegie Mellon
Northwestern
Case Western
WPI

You are looking pretty good for Mudd. I say it is a match. Perhaps 50/50 chance?

If you were a girl (there is still time!) it'd be more like 80/20.

Awesome! Thanks for the replies everyone!

I'll get working on that girl thing right away. Excellent advice there.
