That was just a theory. It could be wrong. But yes, there have been a bunch of people who have gotten into the summer program already. If you listed that on your app, you have a much better chance of getting in. I don’t know if it will increase your chances of finding out sooner, though.

Does anybody have this status? I have it for multiple weeks.

Application Status
Your application is complete, all of your required materials are here, and we are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.

youngm2194, I have that exact same status. I’ve had it for about a week now.

S rec’d acceptance letter in the mail today… fall engineering UP but status didnt change from “in the coming days” … so the letter may come before the website is updated… as for the previous posts the “as soon as one as made status” stays for awhile until you are either accepted or denied.

Is it bad that it still says coming days after three days? Like is that normal? Im even more nervous now.

I assume it’s normal. Today is my 4th day with that status. I keep checking it every few hours, so it’s safe to say I’m anxious as well.

ok, i really thought i would have known by now though. i hope it updates online tomorrow! good luck!

Im so upset, i got penn state berks i feel like they least should have waited and given me a second look later. I was so excited for nothing, ugh.

Oxcgirl…I am so sorry. I sure thought your stats we strong.

At least you found out early enough to do ED at another university. If Penn State is still your number one choice you could call and see if changing to summer would help for University Park. What was the major you applied to?

Definitely call and ask if there’s any way you can gain admission. I’ve heard of a lot of people getting in by talking to a councilor and changing their major and or applying for summer session.

Really, though, I don’t see why you didn’t get in. Your UW GPA is in their middle 50%, and your ACT being above their average should bring that up.

Thanks NonexistantExit and SaratogaGolf.
I email them asking if I could be reconsidered if I change my major to undecided or after they see my first semester senior grades because i got all A’s my first quarter and i’ll probably do about the same second quarter. My major was mathematics and I’m shocked I didn’t get in because i took 6 years of a math and did well in all of them. I’ll deff call them if they don’t answer by mid week.
And I would do summer session, but i really just cannot afford it. 40,000 a year is already going to be hard to do so i cant add another 8,000 on top of that. Which sucks.

I still don’t get why if they thought i was borderline they just didn’t wait til later. I’m hoping they reconsider.

And does anyone know IF i was reconsidered for UP and still got denied if I can still go to berks?

oxcgirl…I am so sorry! I am also shocked, especially given your ACT score. I would definitely given them a call and talk about changing your major to undecided. I have heard that they will make changes if you have a rational reason. Best of luck and let us know what they say!

Got the acceptance this morning. Very excited.

Smeal college of business fall 2012

Yeah im def going too. What upsets me even more is I know a kid who graduated from my high school last year and got into UP with a 3.6gpa (a tad better then mine) and a 22 ACT. like really? do they care that much more about gpa? Its so frustrating

2/3 of their decision is based solely on GPA

i do realize that but does a 3.6 and 22 ACT look that much better then a 3.5 and a 31 ACT? Maybe its me but i dont think so.

I think the reasoning behind the people who get high standarized test scores but have lower GPAs is that the student was quite capable of getting a higher GPA. People who test lower are not necessarily bad students, just may not test well. So the question is, did they live up to their potential? Oxy - I would call. People do have extenuating circumstances when their GPA isn’t as high - illness, tragedy, immaturity as a freshman. They will reconsider if you explain.

well my freshman year grades were the reason for my lower gpa, and that was because I had to be absent due to a medical reason. but do the really take that into consideration? I just don’t want them to think i’m mentioning it now because I want them to take pity on me or anything like that because that is the last thing i want.

I’ve had this status for 5 days. How long until it changes to “coming days”
