so I have no idea if this will ruin my chances....

but after going over my application--i found a mistake. one that i wish i never made.

at the very end of one of my essays i wrote the word Stanford as Standard. Of course, I didn't mess it up the other million times I wrote it, but I did mess it up once. ****

SPILLED MILK SPILLED MILK. Don’t cry over it. For God’s sake, making these threads just makes everyone more nervous about the decisions themselves…

I’m not sure how carefully they read the essays, but as long as the rest of your application is great I doubt it would destroy your chances. Atleast you didn’t accidentally write another college’s name.

I know of people who messed up Harvard vs. Stanford. I kind of did that too in Harvard interview D: (the sound so similar! I bet they rhyme or something) Sorry about my panicking thread, I feel much better now.

“Great stats, superb ECs and leadership with numerous national awards.”

“Wow he must have worked hard in high school. Now let’s see his essays.”

“What? COMMA SPLICE!?”

“No it’s not THAT important. Keep reading.”

“WAAAAT!?!?!? STANDARD? Stanford is NOT Standard. I’m insulted! How could he do this?”

“No way are we going to accept him. We have 30,000 other applicants to look at who don’t have comma splice or who can’t spell Stanford in their essays.”

Some of which is probably commonapp’s fault. I mean there was a word, liaison, in which I fixed so many times with different app versions etc. However, every time when I sent it out the mistake comes back. Plain annoying.

Now serious: Yea I had that same problem. Apparently sometimes Common App’s servers were so overloaded that you couldn’t save anything. It just didn’t record it.

I remember some cute ones from that thread though. Like as a joke for her dad, one girl put her dad’s employer as “Me” when he reviewed her app.

…and then forgot to take it off. Must have given the adcoms a nice laugh.
