yea, just do me

I wont take much of your time.. :D
I am applying to UChicago EA. I had a talk with a rep. from columbia, who thinks I have a good chance there, and I am a unique applicant. But Columbia isnt UChicago, and I want to know wut u guys think about my chances there.. I'll make it brief..

I will have great essays:
Major one is about our society's shift from being a coherent one to an incoherent one.. how in today's society, relevance is irrelevant.. should be very insightful..

Reccomendations are effin great:
US AP History Teacher: haha, she will focus on how I was a "robber barron," and how I recieved the highest grade in class with the least effort; how I won all the Jeopardies.. and how i managed the course with other chitloads to do (wasnt bad)
Tennis coach..(eh..)
I also have an excellent recommendation from the Chair of Applied Physics and Department Head of Material Science at Rutgers University ;-) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He will write about how impressed he was during my intense faculty level work-study/research (he really was...) He will talk about how my research results were the best in 10+ years and will compare me to undergrads he has worked with...

Awards:
Regional placement (2nd) for two consecutive years .. Science fair, Category Physics...
Distinction of National US Physics talent...
other crap to do with science (gifted and talented program ...)

..........
and now what i most treasure: faculty level research at rutgers (400+hrs.) NO words to describe that intense experience.. and wont attempt to..it changed my life

WAKE UP!!!
okay okay, finally, phew..

My supplement will include abstracts for 2 original research project..
-One has intense practical appoication and will change our insulations we use at home ;-)
-Other, through rutgers (my own tho), is a way to shape memory and extensive memory storage in nano-checkerboards.. yessir...

Thats me.. yea, i do sound depressed, dont i?
Well.. here I am, hoping for the best, couldve been much better, regret it now, n w/e..
thank you very much guys n gals.. Thank you..
Please comment on UChicago :( it is like my dream.. it IS my dream

p.s: not applying to any other colleges.. except rutgers as safety.. either chicago or nothing

are you entering siemens? or goldwater? since you do seem to be very research oriented. those will beef up your app.

seems like u got a pretty good shot bro...i'm thinking like 60-70%? just get them sats up

aha, I passed Seimens deadline.. pfft.. who cares.. I dont know quite a lot about Goldwater.. but I am entering Intel and Monmouth (If i play my cards right, I will get published/ get a 4 yr. full ride, but monmouth sucks, no offense)..
but do you also recommend Goldwater??

tunit,
Thanks, made me feel a little better, but yea, i hope to get a decent SAT score.. I have to tell you bro, SAT's is, right now, the most depressing thing in my life (gf is close second :p)... I havent been studying or practicing, just dont have the time to. But we'll see what happens. If anything, it will all come down to how I present myself in the application.

Anyone else, please, and thank you bros n gals

I'd say you're a match for Chicago EA.

I sure hope so, ty..
anyone else?

Jeez, what are you worried about? You seem like you are a pretty perfect canidate to me! Good Luck, I hope you get in! Columbia would probably take you, shoot, I think you could get in anywhere!

with a flipping 1900 SAT's bro? I doubt not...
I took the SAT's today.. I can bet money that i got a 800 in math.. n f*#$ reading...

thanks a bunch for your insight..

That AP USH rec doesn't seem to portray a particularly good image--the smart but lazy student who didn't really pay particular attention to the class at hand despite obvious aptitude.

the main focus on the app (i havent seen it yet tho) is that I was able to balance the AP class with so much other stuff- given that i did not have a lot of time, I was able to maintain a high average. ANd yes, I am kind of lazy when it comes to studying, but I will try to avoid to display that in my college app..
ty for pointing that out, thanks a bunch bud.. i'll have to straighten that out w/ her (hopefull she is smart enough to figure that out herself :p)

anyone else?? So far feedback has been positive, for which I am glad for. But I want to get as much insight as possible :-) ANY CHICAGO GRADS OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What region do you play in?

jersey.. north jersey.. =) an awfully competitive state, i tell ya

wow, i'd love to talk to any chicago grads :( anyone out there to comment?? funny thing is my regional counselor doesnt respond to my emails xD

It'll boil down to essays. You're an ok applicant, but do keep in mind that your research would've been much more impressive if you had done ISEF Siemens etc.High school students doing research at universities isn't as rare as you think (in fact everyone at my school is required to do it to graduate). I don't know if this applies but one of my friends and his research mentor are currently applying for a patent; maybe try that ?

The things that could hurt you are:
SAT I and SAT II math score are really low (luckily for you, U of C won't pay much attention to this)
Ethnicity

If you are really good at tennis and recruited by chicago then you're in 100%

haha you asked a rep from columbia how you would fit at chicago??

congrats! you've been accepted into UChicago!

VERY GOOD MATCH! (I Can't say Chicago is a safety :P)

75-85% acceptance.

oh well more competition for me....

CNI: no, lol, i asked the rep from columbia.. well, i just told him my stats and about my life, and he encouraged me to apply to columbia.. he was kinda furious that i told him i didnt care about columbia.. just chicago haha, i was rlly assertive, he initially was really excited and told me I would bring life on campus and I am a good applicant..

I do think that the only thing that differentiates me from others is the amount of pressure and stress I am able to handle.. I am crapping in a 500+ buck check in every week or two.. I have to take care of myself w/ my bills.. and my siblings and others.. nd really, all my life, my parents did not get involved with my life/grades/n such..(now they're jumping in bec/ of college.. how selfish..) so, i've been independent all my life and with all the homework and EC's, research, tennis, job, and other commitments, i have a lot of stuff to do but I just dont stress.. which i think my good charactersitics.. and i"m proud of it .. you really had to know me personally lol.. so I think i would be great for chicago or columbia.. but its getting there which kills me..
I took all my SAT's cold. with no practice.. just didnt have the time to.. but yes, Chicago looks beyond scores, n i would hope so..

but yea, i dont have any plans to even apply to columbia.. only two schools: Chicago .. if not, then Rutgers..

and for recruiting.. i've been talking to MIT's tennis team... but i think i'm purposely going to end it.. MIT doesnt deserve me..

@ttosh: lol, i really hope so.. and for ur comment "more competition for me.." there are thousands of seats >O... what are your stats like? nad I really hope you get in.. bro, these essays are killing me though.. =(

thank you a lot guys..
my grades also show an upwards trend ..

tyty
