Mock Trial (10-12): swept local individual honors, team lost before we could make it to state though
Robotics (11-12): Leadership team, PR Coordinator, scouting captain
Soccer (9-12): Nationally ranked travel team, nice backstory, I was cut from the team three consecutive years before finally making it and becoming a starter. Before that I was on a different team that was like 6th in the state
Science Olympiad (9-10)- 3rd and 5th in the state in individual events
Volunteering:
Children’s Hospital (11-12): 150 hours a year
Key Club (9-12): Service coordinator for 10 schools 150 hours total
Special Education Department (9-12): 100 hours total
Work Experience:
Soccer Referee (9th-12th)-Promoted every couple of weekends and now I ref at the highest level possible considering I just turned 18 and there’s age restrictions
Custodian/training advisor (summer between 10-11)-Worked as a custodian and gave customers advice on workouts in exchange for a gym membership and access to group lessons at a gym so that I could make the aforementioned travel team.
Essays:
Common App (8/10)-Wrote about what made me unique and how my experiences at Children’s Hospital are meaningful to me. Essay wasn’t as generic as it sounds.
Supplement (10/10)-Wrote about division in my community between wealthy and poor communities and how I created an indoor soccer tournament to help connect all of these communities through our love of soccer. Best essay I’ve ever written.
Letters:
Counselor-either stellar or generic because she’s told me I’m her favorite student but at the same time she has like 200 of them to write because I go to a big school so it depends on whether or not she personalized it.
Teacher 1 (6/10)-generic for the most part but talked about how I loved to debate and could be humorous at the same time but again suffering from the whole have to write 100 letters thing.
Teacher 2 (10/10)-showed it to a college counselor that I paid with my referee money for a session and she said it was the best she’d ever read.
Outside -haven’t read it but it’s my volunteer coordinator at Children’s Hospital and she has a Masters degree and absolutely loves me.
Other outside (7 or 8/10)-Referee boss, talks about how professional I am but he’s not a college grad so his writing itself is poor.
