Yes, another chance thread...but PLEASE I'm begging you.

I LOVE Lehigh. I really would have liked to apply to one of their ED's but my parents wouldn't let me because I had to "keep my options open." So yes, I had to apply RD, which I know decreases my chances already. Here's my stats:

SAT I:
Math: 680
Reading: 610
Writing: 720

SAT II:
Math: 660
Bio: 630

....yeah not the best.

GPA: 3.9875 unweighted
4.477 Weighted

I'm 14 out of 368 students, so top 4%, but my school doesn't report rank.

I have taken all advanced classes during high school. I also took AP english and AP Bio my junior year. This year I am taking AP Lit, AP Calc AB, AP Italian, advanced physics, yearbook, and marketing.

EC's:
National Honor Society
Italian National Honor Society
5 hours of dance a week since Pre-K
Piano lessons until sophomore year
Relay for life participant all 4 years
Relay for life captain last year
Member of community service club all 4 years
Secretary of community service club junior year
President of community service club senior year
Yearbook staff member junior year
Yearbook editor senior year
Italian club all 4 years
86 hours volunteer work at my church's camp
plenty of hours for soup kitchens, volunteering at thrift stores, salvation army work, etc
Math league all 4 years
Physics league senior year
DECA senior year

good essays (in my opinion)
good recs (I assume...hopefully)

I visited the campus (attended info session and tour)

I'm white, female, from a middle-class family in NJ

I really think my SATs are going to hold me back

THANKS(:

I’m applying to the college of business.

you should be in

I agree. Your in. About the same stats when i applied and lehigh was near the bottom of my list. I did EDII because i was impatient :stuck_out_tongue:
But you’ll get worse housing because your not ED imo.

Hey collegetimee,

Your SAT I’s are very good. The subject scores could be better, but given all of your other stats and ECs, I think you shouldn’t have much of a problem. If you’re not hell bent on going to Lehigh, it’s good your parents told you to apply RD. I’d say it affects financial aid and scholarships more than actually being admitted.

Asianxtreme,

I hope you didn’t apply ED to Lehigh just to find out the decision sooner. You need to understand the gravity of applying ED. ED means you agree to attend Lehigh regardless of all other college offers. I hope you didn’t screw yourself over. RD students are able to choose.

And for the both of you,

I applied ED and lived in Upper Cents, one of the newer (circa 1970) dorms on campus. But my roommate was RD, so it’s possible you could live with an ED person in a “nicer” dorm. And RD students can choose a living community, which have housing locations already set aside.

Feel free to ask me any further questions on my thread.

Best,

Asianxtreme – the part about housing is completely false. Typically, ED students are put into Lower and Upper Cents. While the rooms are a bit bigger, the locations kind of suck. Both cents buildings are far away from most academic buildings (though Lower is close to Rauch is business students are lucky there). The rooms are a bit bigger, but the students there tend to be rowdier and louder than in other dorms. As a Gryphon myself it’s widely known that the Gryphons there have it harder because the students are less well behaved… Also RD students get put in M&M usually, which most people love because its location is very good. Finally, CHOICE students typically get put into Dravo, and many athletes are in Richards…

Just want to clarify that Dravo is not a CHOICE dorm - Freshman CHOICE is housed there, however, majority of Dravo students are non CHOICE.

I attend lehigh right now, junior. iMO lower and upper cents have the best location. Everywhere means a significant amount of climbing everyday to get to and from class plus the dining hall is close.

They also just refurnished the lower cents. I guess the gryphons have it harder but as a student i think its a great living condition.

I dont regret for a minute applying and coming to lehigh
