I sounded like a total dumbass because the admissions officer started off the conversation asking me if I was still interested in Rice and if I could elaborate. I thought she was testing me and I got so nervous like "yeah, love residential college system, know a friend that goes there, ha ha" - I sounded so stupid. Then she asked me if not having visited was a concern, and I said it was expensive and my parents would only let me visit if accepted, and she tells me "oh, but I'm calling to tell you you HAVE been accepted."

Awesome man… I’m so happy for you! I’m glad to hear that those who really want to go to Rice are getting off the waitlist… I hope more waitlistees who absolute love Rice will get off the waitlist as well.

For some reason, your posting brought tears to my eyes. Congrats! It’s a great school, even if they didn’t accept my daughter’s best friend with 2200+ on her SAT, 700+ on her subject tests, and a 4.1, unweighted. And she is a really nice kid.

But, she’s UCLA-bound and thrilled. And Rice is a great school, nonetheless.

I got so excited today when a Rice adm. officer called and left me a message to call back. Unfortunately, it was for another applicant from the same town with the same name. :3

JDong217 did you send the admissions office a continued interest letter in response to the waitlist? I really need to write one but I cant seem to choose the right words.

I did send them a letter like the last week of April. Nothing special but I just let them know I was interested.

Thanks for the kind words guys I paid my housing and enrollment deposit and it shows up that they received it. But I didn’t get a confirmation email or email account or anything. I called admissions to make sure they got my reply and deposit and they said they did (strange that they didnt ask for me ID # though). So if they got my deposit, I’m definitely guaranteed a spot right?
