Yesss, I am in - as a review applicant

What a thanksgiving present!! Hang in there everyone, things will work out. I am a top 25% rank with a 28 ACT. Lots of EC and some leadership. I did work very hard on my three essays. I did not submit recommendations.

Hopefully everyone has better credentials and will get in. Now I have to figure out dorms. Any recommendations?

Go Aggies

depends on what you want from the dorms.

if you want to be near northgate then choose that. if not, then the commons area is good.

my DD wants to be by “the running boys”, the corps dorms. so she might choose one of the dorms on the quad.

i think modular dorms are the nicest.

i wish my DD would move to STEP4!!!

how long did it take you to move from step 3 to step 4?

Congratulations!!! This is GREAT NEWS FOR ONE OF MY GOOD FRIENDS who has similar stats!!!

whoop!
I knew it was good news for you

i guess we could take this as good news for us, as well, but i just want to see it on AIS.

SOON! so we can submit that housing app!

Congratulations on the acceptance!

when did you move to step three of the application process?

just curious to know approximately how long it will take for my application to go from step 3 to step 4. I am also a review admit

we have been on step 3 for two weeks.

: /

oh, this will be my 5th week on step 3…its getting sort of frustrating =/

what are your stats??

did you send recs and all three essays?? if not, do so.

I have a hard time believing this. TAMU has historically NEVER accepted review applicants this early.

i know several review applicants who have been accepted.

people who are only missing auto admit in one area with awesome stats otherwise.

i can’t say i know what a&m has historically done … how do you know?

and NEVER is a strong word.

Mike, your d might want to reconsider being by the corps. I know a few girls that got put in there late and really loved seeing the guys all the time. But by the end of the first semester, being awakened by reveille at 6 am everyday got really old. Good luck to all and Gig 'em!

ha! when i first read this i thought you were suggesting my DD be IN the corps!! aaah!

i agree though, being by the corps might be more noisy than most people would prefer!

Yes - they do accept review applicants early - thoes who are very close to the auto admit level with great stats and great interest in A&M.

We heard from everyone last year on our visit - “maybe you will get an early Chirstmas present…” when we left my dd’s application the day before Thanksgiving. It came right after Christmas, but it was way before the application deadline.

Mike - I believe your daughter will hear soon as well. I can’t remember what college you said she was applying to - it may be that college does their review admits at a different time - dont be too worried, didn’t you say she was in like top 15% and a 29 on ACT? Thoes are right at where my dd was and we heard right after Christmas last year, college of architecture - 2nd hardest college acceptance on campus. I would put money on a bet she gets her acceptance after the first of the year.

klparker - yes you have her stats right. : ) how did you remember? i always get everyone on here confused with each other.

she is biomedical science … at the moment. she is thinking about nursing, but she doesn’t like the ring you get from the nursing college!!! haha it takes very little for her to change her mind!! : /

i think she will get admitted, i just wish it was soon.

so i guess i can stop checking the AIS for a while? : )

do you think sending in recs will speed the process any?

i hate waiting. she has heard back from all her other colleges already so i just want to hear back! (all acceptances!)

now we are working on bunches of scholarship apps!

: )

I have been accepted. It took approximately 3 weeks from step three to step 4. Step 5 happened the same day. There are a few students at my school that have been accepted this past week as well. I am in the school of Business.

Good luck everyone

I do not believe rec’s will help your daughter. I honestly believe it is the college of biomedical science that is the hold up. It is just a matter of the college’s time to do the reviews and acceptances. They may be on a different schedule than the college of business or architecture - both of which do early admits on review students - we know that for fact. Biomedical science college may wait until final exams are over and students are gone to go through the new applications. Worst case, they may wait until after all applications are in to make decisions. Believe me, I know how hard it is to wait.
Go ahead and send the rec letters in, but I think they only help in the final final review - when they are weighing one student against another -

she was in the school of business, but she changed her major a week or so ago. the current plan is school at a&m then nursing school.

: )

I am not a top ranking student or anything like that, but according to collegeboard.com my test scores fall into their middle 50% range.

SAT
CR: 530
Math: 570

I have tons of extracirriculars and i did all three essays as well as sent in 2 letters of recommendation.

I am also looking to join the corps of cadets, so maybe that will show my increased interest of the school

The College of Business is the #1 hardest college to gain acceptance to. that is what we were told - anyway. College of Business would be a holdup on acceptance to all but top 10% & automatic acceptance kids. I’ve even heard of top 10% kids not getting into Mays.
