Yo Chance Dis' Indian Kid!

Thanks for the replies!

right...so...back to bumping...

These are my predictions. Take them lightly, these are just my personal gut feelings (obviously I'm not gonna read your application). You just seem too one-dimensional, on paper at least.

JHU (Biomed Program (separate application and very competitive), ED and RD)- Accept

UPenn (Also Considering ED and RD)- Reject

Hm, I'm not exactly the expert but I think you have a pretty good shot at these schools. =)

I think your colleges are all matches/safeties, go for HYPMS- match, seriously your stats are beautiful

ohkay my question wasn't answered on the other thread... i'm naive, whats bumping?

lovepanera, if you google/wiki "bump", you can get the following definition:
Bump (Internet), raising a thread's profile by returning it to the top of the list of active threads .. so it's basically "turning on the light" of one's thread .. so that more people can possibly read the thread.. (yousee the little bulb beside the titles in the previous page, huh?

thanks guys, I appreciate all the responses!

hey man, thanks for chancing me
it looks we have close to similar stats (except u killed the SAT's, did u take it twice??)
but here is my 2 cents, not that it means much since i'm a junior also

JHU (Biomed Program (separate application and very competitive), ED and RD)

UPenn - Low reach (RD), High Match (ED)

Cornell - High Match (RD), Match/possible in (ED)

Penn - match
Cornell - match

Boston Univ - safety
Penn State- safety
NYU- match
Rutgers-safety

You should also apply to one of the top Ivies' chemistry program--probably Princeton--but you need to do well in the NJ Chemistry Olympiad this year to have a good chance there. Plus, you are going to need some outstanding recommendations--especially from the summer jobs you've had the past two summers (this one and last years').

Princeton--Slight Reach to Reach

Good luck.

I'm sorry...but UPenn and Cornell are never really "matches". Match = 50% (at least in my system) acceptance rate or higher...and to have a >50% chance to get into UPENN and Cornell unhooked is EXTREMELY HARD...

I kind of agree with you azngod but it cant hurt that so many responders are confident in my chances: despite the occasional exaggerated chances post, I think I can at least be more confident overall. Thanks again to all of you for responding!

Your GPA is still a tripping point, and I'm not sure how you plan to organize your massive swath of ECs and awards (although there are worse problems to have). Otherwise, you look pretty good for what you're aiming for.

thanks for your wonderful post. i'll reiterate again that how you throw your transcript on the common app is going to be the most important task facing you, i think. your ECs could come off as passionate, or kind of watered-down/samey/laundry list. Best of luck, and if you're really headed into BME there are a lot of great programs that aren't necessarily prestigious (it's good that you found Rutgers, for example, their pre-med is pretty great).
