Okay, for all you neverous people, my best friend just go accepted by Harvard.

And no, he didn't have 2400 stats or 4.0 GPA.
Here is what he had,

3.4 GPA, 4.2 weighted, 66/378 rank
710- Math IC
750- World
740- US history
Hmm, not exactly sure what he got on the SATI, but it was around the 2100 range.
6 Aps total, had a 3 with APES. Did party a lot, if he could put that on the resume, it would be outstanding.

ECs, nothing amazingly unbelievable, and to my knowledge, he didn't really discover the cure for cancer or anything fantastic.
School secretary and Vice President of JSA Club
National Honor Society
Spanish Club
Attended JSA summer school
And thats about it

And oh and pretty good recommendations and he wrote a REALLY good essay, so I guess thats his standout.

Now he is going Harvard.....
And I am serious.

There must be something you are not telling us. If your friend got into Harvard with these stats, there must be SOMETHING that made him stand out besides an exeptional essay.

His intended major is poltical science, and he is pretty good communicate to other people.

hmm, he was in the student coucil for 4 years, won the secetary election with the largest margin ever in our school history. No one thought he would win but he won by 93% of the votes. And he wrote about that in his essay.

He knows someone. Harvard won't accept that rank without a hook. I have NEVER seen that happen ever. A kid from my high school got into williams with a 3.5 and a 1300. Turns out his dad was being recruited to manage their endowment.

evan, your sister is much more likely. I know plenty of lower scoring highly ranked kids who were able to get into Ivies. Less than before, but it happens all the time.
