you can read this if you're not easily annoyed

Please, ease some of my apprehension..! I applied ED to Dartmouth and am wondering how I stack up. Forgive my forbearance of posting on the right board (stop reading if you're not ni a forgiving mood), but there seem to be several knowledgeable Dartmouthers hanging about... I did my homework and read ahead -- hence the sense of dread pervading my inner being right now. Nice stats everyone, jeezus. Oh and I'm assuming people will be hanging around with the ED notifications looming.

White from public high school in northeastern MA. 15th in class of 138, GPA's a 3.8; I think that translates right. I've made high honor roll every year, which is essentially an A average. 3 AP's but only senior year. Every academic course I have taken has been at honors level. I've taken an excessive amount of language classes, I think.

-SATI -- one time 1470 -- 770V -- 700M
-SATII -- Writing: 800 -- Lit: 730 -- waiting on US History

-National Merit Semifinalist
-Achievement Award in Writing from National Council of Teachers of English
-a couple department awards for highest grade etc.

Allegedly my English teacher of two years wrote my the recommendation of a lifetime. I haven't seen it, but he did contact me out of his retirement and ask if I wanted one.

-Senior Class VP
-Co-Chair of School Council (me and the principal)
-Co-President of NHS
-Mock Trial
-Amnesty Intl
-Student Senate

-3yrs at one job (Clam Box junkie anyone?)
-Town youth soccer ref and babysitter for a few years
-1yr volunteering at hospital, a few other volunteer activities

I went to Bolivia for a month this summer, and I'm going back soon for my independent study on microlending in the capital city, funded by myself of course. I guess that's my "different" thing.

And I know they say it doesn't matter - but I'm not asking for FA

Sorry for being so dreadfully annoying, but gotta do something to pass the time until 3 on Thursday..
-L

There's not really much we can tell you, seeing as you'll know one way or the other in 48 hours. And it's not like you haven't applied yet and might have time to change anything. On the whole, you seem competitive enough. Although--and not to pry--your decision not to request aid baffles me (and I thought everyone was required to do CSS and the FAFSA regardless). I'm wondering if you really understand how much MONEY that is. And ED is binding, so if for whatever reason the aid thing backfires on you, you're in a world of hurt and will have to go through some wrangling.

I'm really sorry if this sounds cranky, but none of us know. You'll know in 2 days.

lol..of course all of us are cranky.. and I hate being the new one on the forums. I saw you post a lot elizabeth - good luck to you come Thursday. And journo - I don't qualify for it?

We've got a couple of Newbies- it's a good time of year to join. Good luck to you too. You're definitely a qualified candidate, but beyond that there's not much to say. Let us know how it turns out. I'm really hoping for acceptance letters for all of us on Thursday.

Some of us Dartmouthers won't be expecting a decision until April 1. ;)
