altruition - I also read a bunch of those  nurarihyon no mago, bleach, naruto, FMA and DGM :P

Haha, I find it hard to believe [in a good way] that some of you guys read manga too
my list’s pretty short: naruto, bleach, and soul eater. Mainly naruto though, only because it’s so freaking long that I don’t have time to keep up with any other series -_- I really want to start deathnote though, it looks amazing.

so what ecs/activities did you guys do in HS? could that be my princeton downfall, idk:[

death note manga (dunno about anime) was good. riveting, really, up until the last few chapters when it got boring :s though the finale was great

@Pandora: have you seen the live action Death Note?

nope, saw the trailer but never actually watched it. Ryuuku was creepy as heck, though @_@

I’ve seen only parts of it, actually. My friend had this one version that had subtitles that didn’t make any sense. The CG is really good for Ryuuku.
I’ve read a lot of DN a few years ago, but stopped more than halfway through. It got somewhat tedious to me by then.

Exactly, tedious is a good way to put it…the author’s overly-complex plot lines started piling up, explanations became long and drawn out…ugh. I’m glad I read it to the end, though, Raito was a fascinating character.
…even though I don’t like anime, that was one anime I was tempted to watch, because he was so ridiculous. There are some great clips on youtube mocking his melodramatic writing in the book/laughing

Raito is one of the most developed characters I’ve seen in manga–that’s what pushed me to read that much. I usually don’t like reading/watching long anime/manga of so many chapters, but DN (at least the first third/half or so) was amazing.

Ha, I’ve seen those clips. I’ve even sped one of his maniacal laughs up, just for fun.

I’ve been considering watching DN, but how much of it is drama/action? I prefer dramedies.

These are the genres that Wikipedia provides for DN:
Detective fiction, comedy-drama, fantasy, mystery, psychological thriller, supernatural

EDIT: It’s dark, and even the comedic moments are often impregnated with tenseness.

Wikipedia sometimes lists genres that don’t really fit, though, so do you think the comedy-drama one is true? Haha.

Hmm I think you would like it ^^ There actually isn’t that much action action (like fighting or explosions). Its lots of mind games, battles of logic, extremely long and overly complex interrogations =D hehe
Its not your typical drama…because there isn’t really a good guy :3

I don’t see it as much of a comedy?? It was kinda dark from what I remember, although L was humorous

If you want another good drama/fantasy type, check out Pandora Hearts (hehe) its really good - I’ve watched a few episodes of the anime (japanese) and the voice actors are pretty top notch. Dunno about the english version, though, if thats what you usually watch

Haha, I was justifying the comedy-drama one with my edit. The combination of fantasy and comedy-drama gives off a wrong impression, I think.

LOLed at: “If you want another good drama/fantasy type, check out Pandora Hearts (hehe) its really good”

Yeah, I always watch the English dubs; I should check it out!

As for DN, I typically don’t like shows or movies that are purely dark drama, but…if the characters are really fascinating (as you guys seem to be saying), I might have to give it a shot. :)

Definitely give it a shot. It’s absolutely fascinating.
