1440 is below the national average

breaking 2000 is elite - about 6-8 at our school.. getting 1800 is the mark for smartness... my goal of 2200 is ridiciulous for them haha

And of those 6-8 only about 2 or 3 between 2100-2200 (none higher)

My school is a bit skewed since only the honors/AP kids even bother taking the SAT. Everyone else sticks to the ACT after seeing their PSAT results. Based on the PSAT if everyone took it average would be around 1300 and a good score would probably be like 1700-1800, maybe? The ACT is a whole different story...

School average is, I believe, 2190.

Yeah, we're selective and competitive and all that good stuff.

how do you guys even know this stuff?!
I don't know what anyone at my school gets!
that's also prob because my high school is about the size of a small college (5000+ kids) but still!

we have about five 1900~1990, two 2000~2090 (rank 1 and 3), and one 2120 (me rank 12). public school of 2000 students, more than half hispanic.

my schools great grades are 2200

in my school good scores are 2300+ if you get <2200 then it's probaby below average. on the 1600 scale my schools mean is a 1300

In my school, anything above 2000 is insane

the top 5% at my school have ~2300 or better. yea, sub 2150s are considered pretty subpar

at governor's school (in a close of 50) thought we got 2 perfect scores last year.. around 6 more above 2300 and 10 more above 2100.. average was 1970.

thats pretty good i think

when i grow up, i'm so definitely going to send my children to private school.

when i grow up, my child is gonna be valedictorian (of top magnet school), have a perfect GPA, get a 2400, and 5's on 15 AP classes, and be a national champion in the 400m.

sometimes its not a good idea to go to a private school..probably looks better if you come from a dump like my school..anything above national average is good

when I grow up, I'll send my children to public school so that they will learn that they are special because of their work, not which school they go to or how much better they are than everyone else.

yes but then your children won't be exposed to the rich snobbinest that comes from attending expensive private schools

wow narcissa I see you everywhere. yesterday I was on the AoPS forum and saw your username. on another note your personality must make all the boys/girls (or both?) stalk you. I know I would ;P

my school has lots of smart people too. It sucks to be compared to my friends who get 2250+ on their first try. I'd rather go to the sub-par IB school in my city....

that plus the fact that i'm super sexy ;)

Public school doesn't do that burnitblue. They determine how special your kids are based on their state standardized test scores. (Especially true in Florida)

Anyway, I have a better than average score at my school. Converting my ACT score to SAT (my ACT is better) I have a 2130. I'd say a good score at my school is anything above 1900....and my school sends at least a dozen students to the Ivies each year. They just admit a wide variety of students, from the 1600 M+V to 1000. (We have one perfect 2400. We also have another student that only missed ONE question. How sad is that?) so it kinda depends on which "clan" you hang out with if your SAT score is good or not. For me, it's very good.

we do ACTs, so it doesn't matter.
