you all have really high sat scores!

seriously! like i've really never heard of anyone from my school district getting any higher than a 1700 or 1800. i just want to know 2 things:

1) how many times did you take the test to get a high score (2100+)?

2) what kind of preparation did you undergo in order to get those scores?

i'm just curious, because damn...those are good scores.

Scores on CC are in no way representative of the scores that all SAT takers get as a whole. To get an idea of where the rest of them are, see Higher Education Professionals | College Board;

1) Once.
2) None.

what’d you get, purple potato :O

2290 =o

I think it’s because most people here are Asian coughcough

I’m not Asian though. :O

I’m shocked that the average score is 1500. You have to have gotten almost half to questions wrong to get such score. I mean, even the dumbest kid I talked to got a 1610.

What are all those people thinking when they walk in and take a college entrance exam?

What do you mean? Doesn’t half the population have an SAT score of over 2100?

Is this helpful for students that have average scores? Do you all consider someone with a 1610 “a dumb kid”?

^I would consider someone with a 1610 to be pretty much average

1500 is average on the SAT. The test is made so that average is about 1500 for juniors.

1) one time
2) Practice, Practice, Practice (so many practice tests -__-’ )

2 times

Entire blue book (lost summer, how I mourn thee!)

my sister got a 1300…:frowning: i know a lot of people from my school district who got scores around that range. i really thought that 1300 was the average…

1) one time to get over 2100 (took twice: 2160 and 2220 - not much increase but an increase)

2) LOTS of practice tests…did I say LOTS?

I haven’t taken it yet, taking it Saturday though. Suffice it to say my score will be in the highest echelons. As all the others have said before, practice tests. Lots of them. I’ve done probably a dozen full exams so far, and I have two left to do this week.

“I’m shocked that the average score is 1500. You have to have gotten almost half to questions wrong to get such score. I mean, even the dumbest kid I talked to got a 1610.”

Gee, thanks. That’s exactly what i got on my first practice test.

sounds a bit pretentious from your part…watch what you say, what can come easy to you may be difficult for others.

Anyway for this thread:
I haven’t got above 2100 yet, stuck on 2000 but i took 5 practice test to increase from 1700…and it’s a good idea to read the sparknotes writing, helped me drastically.

1) Three times (2070,2260,2370 don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t retake the SAT, if you think you will do better by all means retake it!)
2) The Blue Book! Other practice books just aren’t as accurate and you need LOTS OF PRACTICE! The SAT is a learnable skill!
