Where to appppply..........come to a final choice as CC and i ill apply to one school which CC decides is a match.

Laptop - my advice, NEVER put your future in the hands of total strangers (or friends for that matter). Take charge of your own life. Decide where you want to live for 4 years, what you want to study, what kind of students and how many to you want to live with, what do you want to do outside of class time, how far away to you want to be from home. WAY to many unknown variables to begin to help you.

Why Cornell? What do you like about it? Do you want a similar school to apply to? Similar in what way - size, location, class offerings?

Check out school's website for financial aid questions, plus the CC financial aid board.

Good luck and remember - you're in charge of this process and your future.

You are going to have a hard time finding many people on here who want to "decide your future"---way too much responsibility in strangers' hands.

You should start surfing some websites that "match" you with colleges according to your interests/intended major. They are not by any means perfect, but it's a better start than asking us, based on just your stats.

What does "laptop19 is invisible" mean?
Now THAT might be a hook!

Lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is your family income under $25K a year? If so, you can apply ED. If not, you must wait and apply RD in order to get competitive packages.

Retake CR SAT I and the LIT SAT II test.

Biggest tip: Get started now.

Your grades and SAT scores seem a little on the low side for Cornell, unless your athletic EC is good enough for you to be recruited as an athlete.

I also notice that you have a VERY challenging senior year program. At least at my S's school, AP Euro was a killer, and you also have two lab-intensive science APs. I'd advise you to find a couple of safety schools you really like, and I completely agree with cheers...start NOW writing your essays and collecting your recs. Come September you are going to be BUSY. Good luck to you!

My daughter, who was also in an IB program, will be going to Cornell this fall, as will three of her former IB classmates. Quite a few other kids from the same IB program applied to Cornell.

On the basis of their stats, and who got in and who didn't, I think your qualifications are on the low side for Cornell. It's not impossible for you to be admitted, but the odds are fairly low unless you are a URM or a recruited athlete.

So in addition to the financial considerations, think about whether or not you want to use your one and only ED bid on a school that is a longshot for you.

You need to check the Cornell web site for information about financial aid. You also need to check one of the readily available college guides to find out how you compare to students Cornell accepts.

Your future is important for you, so don't expect strangers to do basic research for you or to decide on your future. Putting such things into stranger's hands makes you seem lazy and uninsightful.

NSM is insightful! laptop has posted this information and asked the same or similar questions many times on many forums. He has been told consistently that his list is too top heavy and that he needs to search for more schools that fit his gpa/SAT profile. And he has been told how to go about doing this. However, instead he insists on continuing to ask people to do the work for him.

The fact of the matter is that I am fine with only getting into Riverside, if that happens. Thus, I will be satisfied with going to Riverside as well so why choose schools that are matches and safties just so I can get in and choose UCR in the end anyways? I would rather take chances on higher schools full knowing I may be rejected by each one.

Lower your nose, kid and try to take in the information.

That CR score needs to be over 700 to get to the gate of admissions at Cornell. That's the score they look at to know whether or not you're going to be able to do the reading. Ditto the Lit SAT II score. Why did you take that test?

Your other option is to take the ACT and see if you can avoid sending ANY SAT scores.

As for using Ed on a Reach...you have to try to understand the difference between a Reach and a Holy Mary Please Get Me In!! application. With those SAT scores, your ED app would be in the Holy Mary category--not Reach.

I agree with other posters though. Why post if you can't or don't want to learn from the answers?
