I passed it but my roommate failed it and had to take the communications class last semester, he wasted a pass/fail on it and had a terrible time.

So don't take it as a joke =)

Is it really that bad of a class? Cause I’m not a great writer so I will prolly end up taking it…

I got my fingers crossed that i’ll make the cut
So the topic is gonna be something broad–like you would find on those dang SATs right?

Yes, the class is horrible, but that’s because I HATE writing classes… not that I’ve taken the class or anything, so take that with a grain of salt. Some people actually find the class helpful.

If I remember right one of the two topics last year was about copyright infringement and preventing it on college campuses, and we had to read like 7 articles on it and quote the articles in the paper. It sucked.

Basically, I had a topic (I think it was about music piracy), and they gave you some articles (like 1-2 pages each), and you had to write a paper, citing the article.

It’s actually not too bad if you can focus and work for like six hours over a weekend. That six hours is going to be a lot lot less time than taking the comm class.

Isn’t the COMM writing class helpful for people who do not feel they are good at writing essays?

i think half the people fail it. or atleast used to. So dont worry

Is it like the synthesis essay on the AP English Language exam? Do you have to use parenthetical citations?

That means half pass it, right? =]

Will we have to have a bibliography?

It’s just like a research paper, right?

[Rice Online Composition Examination](http://cohesion.rice.edu/humanities/compexam/overview.cfm)

sounds very similar to it… use all the articles, cite, etc.

my year very few got passes…
