You know you're a nerd when...

When people are surprised when you raise your hand and give an incorrect answer.

When you hear random strangers at lunch discussing the meaning of some literary term they don’t know, and you interrupt them to tell them what it means.

When other kids give you their English papers to edit, and you do it.

When your school doesn’t offer enough APs and you self study them

When you get excited about asking and answering questions in class.

@YourFavFilAmGuy:

But those are basically the same…

@Kommand — PreCalc and Algebra II have overlapping topics. But the three of them aren’t the same. I know other schools combine those, but not our school.

Trig is usually combined with either Algebra II or pre-calculus, but I’ve never heard of combining all three.

… You take SAT/AP prep books on vacation

… When you join CC as an 8th grader

… When you read through this whole thread without getting bored

… When you read “the classic books” for fun instead of as an assignment

You know you’re a nerd when you enjoy reading.

When you’re depressed because you finished AP Chemistry (WHY!!! :*( ). To try to fill the void, you make a Yahoo account just so that you can answer chemistry questions on Yahoo Answers. (This can apply to any subject, I just happen to really like chem.)

EDIT: ^I DO THAT TOO. Except with math ;)

when your calculator costs more than your phone

yeah for priorities!

Yeah, I love math and chemistry. I’m taking Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra at Harvard over the summer right now, so there’s no MATH-related void in my soul (yet). It’s harder to find chemistry-related stuff to do, though.

Having said that, when you take courses at Harvard (or any college) over the summer.

When you don’t mind studying over the summer.

When you actually study chess grandmasters’ endgames to add advantage to your own.
When you use some of the stuff you read in business books to improve school band productivity

When you count calories even though you’re not trying to change your weight.

You study on your break from homework

when you have to go to a nearby university to take math.

when your BAC has never gone past 0.05.

when you study for classes before it even starts (over the summer)

When you amuse yourself by thinking of phrases and finding anagrams for them.

When you and your friends make a rap and music video about TI-84 calculators.

When you have multiple Zelda soundtracks downloaded on to your I-pod.

When you ‘like’ the Facebook pages, [“Math Memes”](<a href=“Math Memes”>https://www.facebook.com/MathMemes</a>) and [“I ******* Love Science”](https://www.facebook.com/IFeakingLoveScience</a>) and understand all of the jokes.
