<p>I essentially am a cave dweller. 
I go out to the movies by myself once in a while or out to eat but the vast majority of time I am in my room by myself and perfectly happy with that, though it would be nice to have someone to invite over every now and then or to accompany me when I do go out. That is the problem with “not trying,” if I just went about my business as usual I’d never encounter any new people to potentially befriend, except maybe in class but there’s not much time for socializing there. So for me to even encounter new people to say “hey dude” and “see you around” to, I’d have to make a conscious effort.</p>
<p>Strike up a conversation with a cool looking guy and ask him on a mandate.</p>

<p>OP is being a little harsh but to all the freshmen complaining about not having close friends yet: GOOD FRIENDSHIPS TAKE TIME TO DEVELOP! Have a positive attitude and be patient.</p>
