I requested a copy of my high school transcript from my GC at the school I attended from 10-11 grades (this was the transcript that was sent to Princeton) and just got it today---and realized that she had only listed 1/2 of my junior year credits on it. I'm surprised Princeton even deferred me. (I guess they didn't reject me outright because I took a bunch of extra classes freshman year...)

Yes...I think I will. Maybe I'll call them, too. I'm just stunned they even deferred me thinking I had less than 4 credits in my junior year. I can't get over how strange this whole ED process has been.....

You must call them! Trust me, they can make an exception just this once, knowing it wasn't your fault.. If they deferred you with half of your transcript, they HAVE to accept you now!

Get your GC to call them. That way it will seem more authentic. Let them know that the correct transcript will be there in a couple of days and ask them to review your app again NOW instead of RD. I'm sure they will cooperate.

<useless-anecdote>
I've myself been prey to GC carelessness... my school doesnt have a proper GC so the principal's PA was filling out the school report, and she cosulted my classteacher for the "general ratings." My classteacher was to put marks in pencil which would then be finalized in ink, and guess what, she ticked off "top few this year" and "top few in my career" etc. in most fields, but the PA lady changed those into "above average" (its almost a policy for every student now).... </useless-anecdote>

So.....What are you waiting for?! Do us a favor and get your GC to call them NOW.

That is totally f-ed up. Totally. Yeah, definitely let them know. So that's why! Well, this makes me happy because once they have all of your info, I think you stand a great shot come April. Bittersweet. Good luck, bree!

lol. half the transcript. well I really wonder how they scrutinise the apps, cuz it looks like the "high school transcript is NOT the most important single document in your application" as all of them say...I also heard that if the uni doesnt get a chance to read an app cus of time constraints, they defer - Im not sure of that tho

Kebree, you've been a presence on all of CC, not just Princeton's board. I know that I speak for many more when I say that I am stunned. While they may still not change your early decision, they MUST at least make a special case. Perhaps they will review it and send a likely letter.

Have your Guidance Counselor pester them and hound them of this. You MUST not let THEIR mistake change your future.

I have no idea...I'll find out when I talk to my GC tonight. I doubt they would reevaluate my ED application, but they might put some kind of special note in with my file for RD...who knows.

KEb how awful! my gc hates me but atleast she lets me cross-examine every transcript/form/ etc. that she signs on my behalf...i dont know what i would do if something like that happened to me!
but the whole incident just reaffirms my belief that the ivies dont really read our apps too seriously...

This is outrageous ! I understand Princeton recalculates GPA from the transcripts themselves, according to their formula. Whoever does this, would have quite plainly seen that you have taken only half the classes that a HS student normally would take, for those 2 years, and sent off an 'app incomplete' letter like they do for other stuff like reccos, SAT scores etc.

I really hope and pray that they will reconsider the ED decision.

My GC is calling the Admissions Office as I type...this is as nervewracking as last week was. More nervewracking, actually. (She's going to ask them if a decision reversal would be possible because the issue was a transcript one.)

OK: just got word. They can't re-evaluate the application for ED (I thought this would be the case), but they said they'd accept the updated transcript with the other 11th grade courses and my 12th grade courses listed (the original didn't list these, either). So.....the wait continues :)

At least I've been given some hope, though.

Good luck, Kebree; obviously you still need to explore other schools, but this should at least take some of the sting out of the deferral.

By the way, Hobbes344 is totally out of line. You have absolutely no reason to blame yourself; on the contrary, you made every effort to check that transcript (which many kids wouldn't have bothered to do), and even though your former GC was incompetent, I don't hear you whining about it. I'm sure your diligence and grace under pressure will ultimately pay off.
