"You'll be missing out on alot of key concepts" My Math teacher says If I take precal over summer...

Basically I took algebra I H accelerated and got a 78. Then sophomore year I was forced to take On Level Geometry and I got a 95 however you can only take Precalulus if you take Geometry H which combines Algebra II and Geometry in 1 year. So that meant I had to take Alg II junior year, don’t get me wrong this class is okay but it is WAY to slow. I can’t stand how we have a test every 3 weeks and relearn the same topic every other week. I have a 94 in this class (not a 100, because I truly don’t study for it and choose to focus on my other AP’s)

This is backstory read below the line if you want the question

Now the problem is my teacher (super nice, super dedicated to her job) feels that if I take precal over the summer I’ll be setting myself up for failure. Not only that there will be an on level calculus and a Calc AB next year which means that On level precal students will take Calc on level and H precal students will take Calc AB.

So if I take precal over the summer, should I take calc on level, or calc ab, will I fail if I take precal over the summer, are calculus and precalculus even related? If so, by how much. I mean calc seems hard, so calc ab just seems like the same thing at a slightly faster pace to the point where more concepts are learned. I plan on taking precal over the summer and then calc ab when I get back. Seriously don’t want to take an on level calculus class.

Calculus is hard.
Take pre-calculus over the summer. Depending on how well you do (95+ or not) take calculus or AP calculus AB.
Also, ask your guidance counselor : if you register for calculus AB and see you’re not up to it, can you switch back to regular calculus after a month?

Calculus requires strong precalc skills. Even kids who ace precalc can run into problems in calculus. The difference in the calc classes maybe the problem sets. Calc is a lot of word problems. If you struggle with precalc take onlevel calc.
