Young man falls to death at UW dorm | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO News

SEATTLE -- A person was found dead outside a dormitory at University of Washington on Tuesday morning.

The unidentified person was found outside McMahon Hall by a student some time around 10 a.m.

The remains appear to belong to a young man, according to police, and he appears to have fallen several stories from a balcony.

The circumstances surrounding the death were not immediately known; police said it is too early to know whether the fall was an accident or a suicide attempt.

No way. Something similar to this happened at Berkeley this year around the same time of the school year, too…

Wow I must’ve bussed past there right around 9:50-10am today, but I was looking in the opposite direction. Creepy.

With regards to this being the same time of year, it IS the week before finals.

This is really sad. My thoughts are with his family, friends, cluster, and the community as a whole.

A friend of mine who lives on the 11th floor of McMahon claims that this young man jumped from the balcony of his dorm (11th floor) before the RAs went around to lock all the balconies (tradition for right before/during finals).

I can’t claim to know what happened from an outsider’s perspective. I still feel sick to the stomach knowing that we’ve lost someone in our community today.

They lock the balconies for finals. They were scheduled to be locked today.

On the grim topic of deaths…

Ugh, so many shootings …

One of my friends says he knows one of the victims who was at the cafe. :(

I was less than a block away, I didn’t know anything had happened until I tried to leave and went outside.
