I saw this. Seattle is really awful in general at clearing snow and ice. Everyone just waits and hopes it will melt (including my landlord). :frowning: This could result in a lawsuit, I’d think.

Update - this student died of a pulmonary embolism, not a fall on the ice, Still a horrible tragedy but not due to the ice on the paths:

@bogeyorpar My son is a freshman at UW and I’m on the UW parent Facebook page which is very active. This incident was posted within the parent Facebook group from a reliable source who reported that no one witnessed the student “slipping” on ice. Before the examiner’s results were available, UW proactively announced cancellation of classes because of the snow. I was impressed with how they handled everything and think the president Ana Mari Cauce is doing a great job!
