I am currently waitlisted and yesterday my application status changed to "May 12, 2011: Your application is being very carefully considered." Is this a good sign?

campho…For many of the students that applied and received decisions last fall/winter, the change to “being carefully considered” meant that a decision had been made and they usually received it within a week or so. Sometimes the decision would appear on the online tracker first, sometimes it would arrive by snail mail first, but usually within a week or so from the change date. No guarantees as to what the decision is, and it may or may not mean the same thing now…but I think it’s probably a good sign that your decision is forthcoming. Good Luck!!

My son is also on the waitlist and got the same status change on May 12. I am hoping it is a good sign and checking the mailbox everyday. I called the admissions office about a month ago letting them know this is my son’s first choice of school and will commit if he gets accepted and then my son also went into the admissions office in person to tell them the same thing a couple weeks ago. So hopefully that is enough to get in. I’ll let you know if any further updates.

The wait is finally over, I got accepted. Wanted CSE but CLA is fine.

Congrats Campho! We received a big gold and maroon envelope in the mail today with the words “Congratulations” written over it. I will let my son open it. I am sure it is for the CLA as that is what he applied for.

Congratz to you sir and your son too.

Congrats to you both!!

I wl be so much thankful for ure gd work , am also on the waiting list, may the almighty guide you

would you too mind posting your’s or your children’s act score and gpa to let us others on the waitlist know where we might stand? starting to lose hope :(

My act score is 24, and hs gpa is around 3.5. I have like 45 college credits from PSEO. Best luck to you all.

Son’s ACT was 24 with a GPA around 3.3. Also, he has taken a couple PSEO classes this year. He also spent a year abroad as a foreign exchange student and knows Spanish fluently. Good luck to all.

I just want to point out that class rank plays a big factor in being placed on the wait list/admissions, as I was placed on the waitlist with at 3.58 GPA and 32 ACT in 2005/6, while just outside of the top third of my class - and UMN has only gotten more competitive since.
