I am a rising sophomore and I was just curious to see when was the best year of college for a lot of people. I had some fun, made new friends, and had some interesting classes, but I wouldn't say that my freshman year was the best year of my life. Probably the only thing I didn't do that's typical of a college student is hook up like a madwoman. My school, while I like it and am grateful to be here, is a little lacking socially. I met a lot of people during orientation but I don't even speak to half of them anymore.
So does college get better or is it all downhill after the first year? I'm hoping so because next year I'm living in a suite with a few friends. That might improve a few things.

i think freshman was the worst year of them all. senior year was by far the best.

I was wondering this too.....I'm a freshman and this year sucks. I mean, it's not horrible, but it's not all sunshine and happiness either. EVERYONE I know says it gets better.....so I just have faith that it will :)

sorry that your year sucked, space cadet. What made it so bad/what school are you at?

as a general rule I've noticed it goes something like this among people I know:

if you hated HS freshman year is usually the best
if you loved it it's usually the worst
if you were OK with HS (ie most people) it's usually pretty decent

yeah, frosh yr wasn't so hot for me too, but then I joined some clubs which allowed me to meet new people and gain new friends. Maybe you should too, since your school is "lacking socially."

Did you join these clubs your sophomore year? I think one of the reasons why freshman year wasn't as good as it could have been was because of my extracurricualrs. I went for things that I was completely new to rather than things that I'm talented/good at-which is not a bad thing, but it doesn't always put you with the people that you want. For example I tried out the sailing team but didn't like it, and I'm in student government right now but the people **** me off. By NO means am I friendless and lonely but there's just something missing...maybe good extracurriculars could help that. Anyways thanks for the advice.
