I finally asked my counselor to check my rank.
I am currently #2. :( Who feels what I am feeling right now?
I am going to try very hard to knock the current #1 out. :D I am a sophomore so I have time.

What is your current rank so far? What do you want to accomplish by graduation? Any competitive val race story?

I don't even know who is #1 right now. I don't have a lot of friends so it's hard to tell.

Well, he does have few friends, sooo…
I’m ranked fifth at my school out of over 400, but everyone in the top 20 or so is friends with each other so there is not a lot of competition for rank. People try hard, but no one is trying to “knock off” someone ese.

I’m in the exact same position. I’m #2 and have absolutely no clue who is #1. I couldn’t care less, though, because or val/sals don’t really get any special recognition except a lanyard or something.

That’s how it is at my school. The top 5% is about 25 kids and we all know each other and are friends. I don’t see any competition. It’s really not that important. Don’t stress about it.

“People trying to “knock out” those with higher ranks. Not the right attitude.”
I was just using the word “knock out” for dramatic writing.
And really, I just have a late start because I just transfered to this school from a very small school out in the country.
No flaming please. Because I am sincerely only curious.

You’re obviously doing alright. No worries. Does your school have awards for being number 1 or something? At mine the top 5% graduate first. But other than that, nothing else. I can’t see why someone would care enough to beat one kid lol.

You might think I am heartless but, because I don’t have a lot of friends, and because the current #1 is probably not my one of my friends, I don’t really care if I beat him/her to the race. And no, it’s not really “beating;” it’s going to be a clean and honorable race. I just love to write dramatically. Plus I am going to have all of my classes AP for the next 2 years. And if getting all As from now till then will secure my spot, then I do deserve it. And really, there’s nothing that I can do about it except getting good grades, which I am planning to do any way to go to a great college and get a full ride.
So no, my ultimate goal is not just to be val; it’s to go to a great school, which all of us are striving to do. Being val is just a by-process accomplish I have a chance and want to a achieve.
And I am not as obsessed with the title as [this freshman kid](Valedictorian problems - High School Life - College Confidential Forums). I am definitely not sneaky like that. So thank god I don’t have a lot of friends (no, it’s not pathetic; i’m just very selective of who I am letting into my life) and the current val is probably not my friend.
Call me number obsessed. I know a lot of you out there are the same but just don’t admit it. But you know you are number obsessed to some extent. It’s okay for me to admit it.

Again, I don’t see how this is bragging.

Let’s back to the topic because I am very curious in val race. Do you know any “dirty/sneaky” one?
