Your financial aid experience at GW?

A question for current students (or their parents)/ alumni with financial aid -- I liked that the tuition doesn't go up, and there's a large portion of the need-based grant that's guaranteed (as long as the student maintains a 2.0 GPA!), but now that I've seen how expensive the dorm choices are after freshman year (the cheapest then seem to be $2K more), and how much the room cost increased since last year, I feel that the "guaranteed tuition" is maybe not such a great deal.

Also, if students automatically get less need-based grant money each year because they're eligible for another $1K in federal loans, that takes at least a $3K bite out of the nonguaranteed grant.

So I wondered how financial aid has been for GW students after the first year?
Thanks!

i believe GWU is predicting a 4.5% increase in room and board charges per year, which is still better than a 6% increase on tuition that other schools are predicting. that being said, it’s just a prediction that i got from my admissions rep when he was at our school. that obviously could (and probably will) be a lot more.
i like the fixed tuition but ive got the same worry about dorms  we’ve still got 11 days though! haha
