Just picked up soundtrack from “Clme From Away,” about the plane people who were so warmly welcomed by our kind Gander Canadian neighbors on 9/11. I’m excited about reading it and the book, “The Day the World Came yo Visit,” FREE for 21 days compliments of our public library. I also got “Spinning Silver” and a book on selecting nursing homes, since we and our loved ones are all getting older. Yay public libraries!
I’m going to Come From Away tonight (Broadway play)
The upbeat “Come From Away” is so inspiring! So glad the musical was made to honor that wonderful town and its people. Also very glad it’s doing so well on Broadway and is going on the road!
It’s on the road! I’m seeing it in Denver tonight. It is practically sold out.
I just got off the phone with Fidelity, after a 2nd call. They have agreed to pay us $774 for keeping our funds with them for another 9 months (retention bonus to get close to matching the funds I would have received for transferring to e-trade or Ameritrade)! I’m happy, they’re happy! Yay!
The reason I periodically scour Marshall’s and TJMaxx…black skinny J Brand Jeans with tag showing retail of $188 on the clearance rack for $20 in D’s size. Score!
My first post-surgery trek to the Rack was a success. Got a gorgeous Max Mara dress and a miniature bottle of Burberry Body perfume for kiddo to travel with. Went to Nordie to return the unfortunate Boss dress, and found a pair of black Theory pants - just like the heathered pair I got last spring. I have been looking for those pants everywhere wanting to buy a second pair and just could not believe they now had them in black! Happily paid full price which rarely happens.
Surgery?? What for?
HIMom: Late to reading this but just wanted to say re: dog hair - pack one of those little sticky lint rollers. I love those rollers - use them to de-hair coat when two legged creatures shed and for cleaning upholstery in house and in the car.
Yeah, my BIL has a bunch of those snd I bought a silicone lint brush, but honestly I still find it better to wear clothes I don’t feel as self conscious in with the dang fur on. Honestly, it’s everywhere. Jeans and nonblack clothing works.
Just bought Walkers Shortbread from Costco—many pounds for $19.99. I bring some sleeves/packs of cookies to parties and meetings until they’re all gone. We love them! There are 9 or 12 packs/tin.
They also had board games (scrabble, monopoly, clue) @$9.97 and 2# cranberries @$3.99.
Went into Walgreens and they had racks of “Halloween” candy for 75% off. All regular brands and the only thing that made them Halloween was the smaller size. Perfect for the candy bowls. Ended up $1 per bag.
Wow @Singersmom07 around here the on-sale Halloween candy is usually gone by mid-morning on November 1! We do have a tradition of trying to nab some for the “kids” who are too old to trick-or-treat anymore.
At my favorite CVS/Longs, it was 75% off and then dropped in price to 90% off before it all disappeared in a few days. We were able to snag our favorites to fill stockings and bring to parties.
Costco gas at $1.94 per gallon for regular!
I didn’t know if we should have a separate thread for black Friday promotions so I am posting here.
Cheesecake Factory will be having their annual promotion where if you buy a $25 g/c you will get 2 slices of cheesecake free. This can be purchased Nov 23rd to 26th. You can sign up for an email reminder at,

I also get a lot of stocking stuffers from Trader Joe’s. For example during this season they sell nice beauty products.
3 pack facial masks or hand creams for $6 or $7. I buy them every year. I love their facial sheet mask for $1.99 which is very moisturizing.

I’m getting the jumbo mugs…just note the large 20 oz. size.
Hello all! It’s been a long time since I’ve checked in, but thought of all of you yesterday. DD is home from her JUNIOR year at college-seems like I was only recently getting ready for graduation. We went thrifting, where among other things she found a Banana Republic coat for $2 at Goodwill (color tag of the day) and a Canadian brand down jacket for $20 at Plato’s Closet. I had never heard of the brand-S & K (Soia and Kyo) and when I looked it up-that jacket goes for $400! Even using Canadian dollar values, that’s quite the find! Usually Plato’s is all about brand names, but I guess they didn’t recognize it and decided it wasn’t worth marking up. Hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving.
Got a pair of new in box boots off RealReal. Yay. I already have these boots… Kid has been actively borrowed my pair, so my plan is to let her keep my old pair, and I will enjoy the new one.
