Longs/CVS was having 75% off lots of playdoh, water toys, dolls and bubbles, plus backpacks & coolers. I “saved” over $120 (spent over $40). All in all, I’m very pleased and they are fun, silly things that ought to bring some smiles to little faces (and their parents). If I don’t give them away sooner, they will make silly Christmas grab bags.
Yay, renewed my t-mobile prepaid phone for $10.47, so my unused minutes will last another year and expire in September 2020! I was unhappy to learn that some of the various sources I had refilled with previously added a $1 service charge, so it made more sense to just work directly with T-Mobile over the phone to be sure I didn’t buy something that won’t work for my bargain phone plan. (It’s the phone I use for our nonprofit. Mostly I talk to people in person or on my personal cell phone, but this is the phone number that goes out to the general public.) My “GOLD” T-Mobile phone plan is no longer available, so reallyl wanted to be sure it stays active, and $10.47 to keep the number active seems like a great deal to me!
I was also able to finallyl figure out how to deposit a check by using the bank’s app and taking a photo of the front and endorsed back of the check–it worked! Also was able to pay estimated taxes for state and federal government online this weekend–not sure it’s a good buy but it beats having penalties and interest!
I was browsing the Eileen Fisher department in Macy’s today. Found a gray and white striped sweater in my size marked down 75% to 49.50. They let me use a $15 off $40.
Total price 34.50. It’s a heavier sweater so should work well this fall.
Might be one of my best bargains
I dropped off a couple of bags at the Goodwill today & decided to take a walk through after. I ended up with a 2-slice Dualit toaster for $8. New, it is $230. I’m giving it to my sister as I don’t need it. Couldn’t pass it up.
I have never purchased anything at Soft Surroundings before, but they had 50% off sale things today, so I bought a shirt that isn’t quite my style. It’s teal, which is a great color on me, and it has a different button for each button hole. It’s “long” and has 3/4 sleeves. I only paid $19.99, and it was originally about 80 bucks. I can at least wear it on a couple of casual Fridays.
Feel like I hit the jackpot this week. Got a pair of never worn J Crew toothpick jeans at the local church thrift shop for $8 and an Ann Taylor sweater for $5. At the Soma outlet got 3 of my favorite bra for $9.99 each, won’t need new bras for a while.
Nordstrom was matching sale prices for Kate Spade bags yesterday. I convinced my husband he wanted to buy me one, “just because.” I loved a blue suede “hobo” bag that’s not particularly “professional” - but I plan to use it anyway, and I will be retiring in the next couple of years. Thanks husband!
Bought a brand new London Fog short raincoat for $40 at Sam’s Club.
Also got $2 back for each of my 2 Costco Kirkland 100% cotton v-neck t-shirts, since the price was lowered to $5 (was $7).
@1214mom - if that is the bag you posted about in the bag thread, that bag is very professional looking! I have cats all over my tote, and I think it is quite professional ? And so is yours! Enjoy!
I picked up two of those foldable, carry-them-in-a-bag chairs at CVS for $7 each at the end of summer clearance.

I just got my Costco membership and I am amazed at their beef and I love their chicken coconut meatballs. If you get their credit card, it is 4 % off at most gas stations and you can cancel your membership if you don’t like it and get(I believe) most if not all of the fee back. I 've been happy so far.
I believe that if you cancel, the fee is prorated, and you get back the unused portion. We got out membership in 1992 and never canceled… a few employees who worked there when we joined are still at the Kirkland store!
Had to call a Delta agent to help me book tickets using the vouchers we got when a fare dropped on a previously booked (upcoming) flight. I happened to mention that I was disappointed that when we booked the SFO tix with an agent (using a companion ticket) we weren’t informed of the runway closure, and were delayed 3 1/2 hrs out and 1 hr back (and would have booked through SJC). She was appalled and gave DH and I EACH $200 credit vouchers, good for a year!! Score!
My 86 yr old mom is cheap. It’s true! She really hates to spend $$ on ANYTHING! She asked me to take her to Kohl’s yesterday to look for some short sleeved tshirt/tops since she figured they would be on clearance. I took her, picked some out, made her take the time to try on in the dressing room (another thing she hates!). We found 2 tops. One she actually loved - it looked good! It was a little more “expensive” - $12 on clearance (haha). I told her that I would put it on my credit card and then we’d get another 15% off (which isn’t much but to her MONEY SAVED).
At the register that top actually rang up for $1.30! Another 15% off made it $1.10. She was so happy.
I love your mom!
Kohl’s had some good deals this weekend and I got a 40% email.
I had bought a pair of denim shorts earlier this summer at Kohl’s and loved them. Then about a week ago they disappeared. Couldn’t find them anywhere. I wanted them because we’ll be going to Florida in a few weeks.
I found them on the sale rack and with my discount paid $3.10! And they were a smaller size. Bonus.
You can guess what happened when I got home. I found the original pair!
Rakuten/Ebates has 15% back on Lululemon.
I’ve been in a bit of a funk because my medical device, a portable travel nebulizer, was ruined on my last flight home. An inspector or airline employee or someone with access to checked luggage pried it open (something that’s never supposed to happen).
I waded through the process to file a claim for the damage and submitted.
I also decided to have a new one ordered and researched — calling and checking the web for prices. I also called insurer who agreed to pay for a replacement and gave me a list of the companies who MAY be able to order the correct machine. I am getting my MD to write an order that is sufficiently specific and will be ordering the machine and paying my 20% of the cost. Yay! One big weight off my shoulders.
@HImom I’m sorry that happened - how terrible. Glad it worked out for you in the end!
