Any skiiers here? Just booked 2 military season passes through the Vail resorts Epic/Peaks program. The season pass (one for me one for DH) is less than the price of 1 or 2 lift ticket bought at the window at places like Vail, Beaver Creek, Park city, etc!!
All the discount season passes have to be purchased by Oct 13
And it turns out we have points on our epic account – enough for two 1 day window tickets! Will let DS #1 and his wife use those (they probably earned the points anyway as we are on a family account)
@jym626 - H and I bought IKON ski passes last April which we could begin using then and are good through ski season 2020. We are taking a road trip in February to ski Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and New Mexico.
Funny, @showmom858 - I was JUST going to talk about the IKON pass. We looked at that when we were consdering Alta/Snowbird. Enjoy your trip! Sounds great!
@jym626, I’m so jealous. I know not many can get the military discount, but it’s a great deal if you can. Disney also sometimes offers amazing deals for active duty and enlisted military.
Even though it’s still suppose to be nearly 90 here this week I decided to look on Amazon at booties. My winter work outfit is my usual athleisure type dresses and skirts, cardigans or light sweaters and footless tights/leggings. I have three booties in rotation right now - a suede tan, a dark brown and a sage green. I am not a flats person nor a heels person. I want the boot to be fully comfortable and able to walk a lot on it and also have it be “ok” for being outside for short distances in winter Ohio weather.
ANYWAY…one of my favorite brands for work shoes/boots is Rocksport/Cobb Hill. Some of their styles can be blah, but some are classically cute. I checked on Amazon and saw a light brown one I liked - the price range for the sizes was odd - like up to $150! When I entered the size I needed it came up $53 - not bad! But then I noticed there was an Amazon coupon on that size/style for $22! So I got a nice leather comfortable bootie that can be comfortable inside and out and go great with jeans or my work skirts/dresses for a little more than $30.
@dentmom4 it was this one. Again, I am a CBC (casual but cute - haha) dresser - I can be active in my job one minute and in a grant meeting the next so I need clothing/shoes that is easy to move in, but looks nice and can withstand Ohio weather!
@ abasket those boots look great and comfortable. It reminds me that I want to look through my shoes and boots and take an inventory of what I have and what I might need. It’s my birthday coming up and one of my family members works for a shoe brand. They save money and I get a gift I will use.
Yesterday, H and I were at Sam’s Club, browsing. While there, they had an announcement about “free gifts” they wanted to give away in the produce section. We went and each received a paring knife—no charge, but had to listen to the guy’s spiel. The was trying to sell a mandolin (sp) that you cut things up with. It was $65 and threw in a few other things but we weren’t interested.
He also gave us a plastic spiralizer (plastic tool rage names spirals out of potatoes and other things).
I am mailing D the knife and spiralizer :-). Because H seemed so interested he was given an extra paring knife.
We gave the extra paring knife to another customer in the food court who was hit by a person driving a scooter who seemed pretty unconscious about how to avoid collisions and unaware that she could have seriously harmed others. The victim seemed quite pleased to be given a gift unexpectedly.
Sam’s personnel did nothing to talk with the wild cart driver or be sure the victim was ok, though it was brought to an employee’s attention.
I just bought a vintage Baker table for $200 on Facebook marketplace. Like new. Chairish price is $1400. Good quality used furniture is better made than the absolute junk sold as new in stores.
Well, switched my plane tickets so that I can attend an important meeting in DC. The group that wants me to attend the meeting will pay for the $250 apiece change for for me and H, plus a bit more. I will also be able to see S and that is priceless! On the way back, we will see D and go to the MD with her and all see Hamilton together! Win/Win!
I got a Chase Sapphire credit card so that I could get their travel point bonus. Yes, there was an annual fee, but I just bought two round-trip tickets to London for only $12 of real money (plus the $95 annual fee). I am going with my daughter in January before her semester in Paris, so tickets were dirt cheap. I intend to save up enough points to go back to visit my son when he goes abroad in the fall!
Well, since the vintner Agustin Huneeus just got 5 mos in the big house for his role in the college admissions scandal, maybe we can all get some good deals on his wines!
Yay, my medical equipment will be delivered to me today and my copay is only $4.09! That sure beats any of the many higher prices online and is a tiny fraction of the price of the machine that was destroyed on my last flight!
I also bought two lovely new Lauren dresses for $40 apiece (marked $109 & $134) - 10% SR discount last night because it was Tuesday, which is Ross discount day! (Under $80 after taxes for the pair of dresses.) Both are lovely on me and washable! H has been nagging me to get some new outfits because I have the same clothing in several photos.
