FYI: Nordstrom is matching Macy’s prices on some of their housewares! Scanpan cookware included.
My H changed the cabin air filter in both of our cars (my Acura RDX and his Toyota Tundra) a couple of months ago. He ordered the filters on Amazon and did it.
Some of the autoparts stores will change simple things like filters, lightbulbs, windshield wipers for free.
I’ve heard that, but then I would have to drive to the store (at $6.05/gallon gas right now), go into the store, etc. This way the filter was delivered to my door and I had the satisfaction of accomplishing something yesterday. And got a “good job” from my husband.
Autozone will change your battery for you. That’s handy.
I had a battery die two years ago and AAA came to my home, diagnosed the situation, and replaced the battery. He stayed masked and there was no close contact. One silver lining of the pandemic is how convenient it became to have products and services come to me instead of me having to drive somewhere to deal with it. AAA isn’t cheap, and I don’t need the maps and guide books like the olden days, but every now and then they make life easier.
@BunsenBurner - would you recommend the Scanpan cookware? I do need to get a new crepe pan and the deal is very enticing.
Also, I’ve been thinking of getting a Le Creuset dutch oven - they currently have the 5.25 qt one on sale for 250$ (both on the Le Creuset site and Nordstrom). The scanpan dutch oven is half that price on the macys website. Are these comparable?
The Scanpan and Le Creuset Dutch ovens are very different: the former is non-stick and the latter is not ( and is also more heavyweight). I have never used my Scanpan Dutch oven in the oven, but I think some Scanpan cookware can be used that way.
The CTX and IQ are the higher grade Scanpan lines and IMO the best non-stick everyday pans. The classic line Scanpan has polymer handles (not oven friendly!) and is thinner construction. I’d go with the former two lines.
I’m looking for a smaller chef’s pan now that we’re regularly only cooking for two. I have a Le Creuset 5 qt chef’s pan which is heavy and I also don’t need it to be that big. I love to cook in this and use it several times in a week currently.
Macy’s has a 2.75 qt. Pro IQ non stick sauté pan that looks good and Nordstrom has a HaptIQ steel sauté pan that also looks good.
Prices are almost the same with the Nordstrom one being slightly cheaper. Have not used Scanpan before so I’m a bit confused and hesitant.
Are these the pans?

I have the latter and like it a lot. The former is on the way to my house. I think the main difference is the outside finish.
Those are the exact ones I’m looking at. Thanks for your help.
Now all I have to decide is which finish I like better!
Per Le Creuset dutch ovens… make sure you are OK with the heavy weight. Even my strong hubby was shocked at the weight, and we were looking at the empty ones at the store. I do love the idea of them - bet they do a lovely job for things that need to go from stove to oven.
That’s why I had my Le Creuset big thing shipped to our place. the UPS dude hit quite a workout.
LOL That’s exactly how I found out I had a cabin air filter in my minivan a few years ago. Thanked him for showing me how dirty it was, bought one at an auto supply store, watched a youtube video. Now I’m a little cabin air filter obsessed and take it out frequently to whack it against the driveway to clean it. I also used youtube videos to replace the bulbs in my head and tail lights, even when it took over an hour to figure out exactly how that little piece of plastic snapped open. Agree about not doing engines too.
Thanks to youtube, I’ve done a lot of home & car fixits that I would have previously paid for. Replacing my Toto toilet’s innards was especially gratifying. I come from a DIY family so it’s in my genes.
Just found my favorite sun tan lotion on sale at Walgreen’s Buy 1 get 50% off, plus $2 manufacture’s coupon, plus $5 Walgreen’s cash, plus free home delivery today. It autofilled a $3 driver’s tip which I changed to $2 (never tipped delivery drivers before but I was getting such a deal I felt generous). So my lotion which is about $14 at Target for one will cost me just over $12 for two.
Off to the pool!
I did a similar sunscreen deal at Walgreens a few weeks ago. But I ended up with three tubes because my first “item” was this two pack ($14.99) which seemed like a good deal

Was buying cat litter on Chewy and noticed that there was an offer: spend $100, get $30 gift card. I decided to stock up. It is not like this stuff would go bad quickly. As the result, an extra bag of litter and some more stuff will be coming to our place soon courtesy of the offer.
