A thread titled "Your HS rivals." sounds like a pretty stereotypical CC thread.

Usually people ask me what I got and then celebrate or comiserate based on their relative score...somehow I became the benchmark of my class. I never ask anyone but a lot of people ask me.There's a lot of competition in my classes, but most of it is joking. The only kids who take it really seriously are the kids who are competitive about EVEYTHING.

Um I think I am the rival

I love competition, but its not really outwardly in my school, atleast in the two advanced classes I have (Spanish and European Ap - and I am pretty much having the best grades in the class so far). In our school its a bit different, there is a seperate level of kids who are smart. Our school has special classes etc, and you can only join it if you were in the Honors class and got good grades.

Our Honors classes are not really competitive at all. Its mostly the advanced group classes that are. I plan to join it next year as a Junior, I am definately prepared for it.

But as for competition, in my AP Euro, I am really not finding much. I couple kids I would have expected to get good grades are not getting any at all. I have been getting somewhere around a B in my tests, and thats like the highest grade in the class by like 10 points+... lol.

I'm a sophomore, and it's been apparent who my rivals are since freshman year. Yeah. I'm REALLY worried because I feel I'm the weaker side of my rivals.

But really, I don't even have a lot of classes with my rivals--they're usually in different periods. But I hear enough about them from my friends. Their accomplishments are pretty amazing by our school's standards. So yeah, it's not a real active rivalry, but it's definitely there. They don't really know me very well, though they are most definitely aware of my existence...
