Heh. Well there is another frosh down in Corpus, and there is ONE alumna in Victoria. Actually there are quite a few kids from the Houston and Dallas areas if you add them up over the years. ;) But yes, most people were watching from the Big 12 perspective, not the Patriot League. Our newspaper didn't even run the score, they put the paper to bed before the end of the game--probably thought that KU would win it. Neener neener.

Congrats to Bucknell is right! Too bad it messed up my bracket. :( I had Kansas going to the Elite 8. I should have had more faith in those Bisons.

Y'all should make yourselves a "Bucknell in NCAA" topic...lol this one is about why you want to go to Bucknell but whatever, I don't really mind

oops...sorry we hijacked your thread. The Bucknell in the NCAA would be very short however, as the ride may end tomorrow. Hopefully the afterglow will last a longer for those of you getting ready to decide.

texastaximom -- is your son finding many friends at Bucknell? Is he going Greek? My son sounds more like yours than the frat boy type, jock type.

He's found quite a few friends, some of the upperclassmen are Greek and none of the freshmen can rush so they are all non-Greek at this point. He's found a group to apply for housing with next year, and then there are the people he likes to "jam" with. He doesn't seem to be leaning towards rush, although he has fun with the Greeks he does know. I guess I'll have to check back in next year on that one!

There are a lot of organizations on campus to choose from, and since freshmen don't rush, it gives students a lot of time to look at everything that's available before they choose a house, if they choose at all.

pm me if you would like to put your son in contact with mine.

ahh, it would have great if bucknell had won! When they got ahead in the second half I really thought that they could win! Them beating kansas was great...all my friends were making fun of me before the tournament started saying that there was no point in them having a team. They are all MD fans, and they weren't even in it, so hahaha to them! They were all so mad and complaining about how it messed up their brackets...

congrats to bucknell on a job well done!

Muhahahaha bye-bye brackets! They sure did give Wisconsin a run for their money. Not bad for a small school that is playing an entire state! Look at the size of the two schools they hit!

I guess this post is a bit late. I just joined the discussion so I'm a bit behind on everything. Anyways...decision letters were sent out so everyone should be receiving them. And for everyone whose con for Bucknell is its location please read this: My biggest con for Bucknell was it's location but now I love the town. I came from a town that was an hour away from two major cities and was in the middle of everything. And I still find more things to do on this campus than I do at home. There are always bus trips out to the city which are at most 3 hrs away. There are always orchestras, symphonies, punk bands, small performers, comedians, new release movies, activities such as Bingo, and game shows, going on. There is a cute coffeeshop where you can just relax with your friends. Every weekend I am torn among all the different activities I can be doing. Also, Lewisburg is such a warm town. Everyone is so supportive of Bucknell and is always supporting the school colors. The town is beautiful in the winter and they always have festivals going on. At one point in January there were ice sculptures out on the streets in front of the small shops. It's a nice atmosphere and though at first the town may look dead, you really have to stay on campus for a night or two and really experience the life. And for the concern on preps. At first glance Bucknell does seem to have a lot of preppie rich kids. That's what I thought during orientation but now I barely see it. If you really look around you'll see that there are so many different types of Bucknellians here and one thats just not use to seeing preppy people may just see those at the first look. I came from a very punk rock high school and though theres not as many punk students here as I'm use to, I still feel very welcome and I love everyone here. Bucknellians are very friendly!

For me, the town was a major pro. I live in a small town, and I don't care for cities. I fell in love with lewisburg the first time we visited...for anyone visiting Bucknell, you MUST drive down Market Street, it's so cute!

I spent the night on campus during the fall, and it seemed like there was always something going on. The people I stayed with were talking about dances and trips that they had been/were going to go on. They also each had several different meetings for various clubs during the day...they said that there was always something going on...

I'm the same, I live in a small town and I like the rural areas. Cities are too busy and dirty I think...so Bucknell appealed to me because it's kind of rural

Heh well apparently Bucknell didn't want me (waitlisted) so I'm not going there...

have a good time all of you who are going class of 09!

Didn't get accepted into my reach--oh well, I'm starting to like Bucknell so it doesn't matter much (I hope they give me some money so I don't have to go to college in the middle of no-where, OHIO!!!)

Heh Ziggy, have you seen where Lewisburg is? ;)
