I’m not sure if something in my Common App came out a red flag to these institutions (such as a poor rec) but I can’t really complain considering where I got in and the selectivity of these schools.
@wisegalati It wasn’t your application, those schools are just incredibly selective. Which of the UCs that you’ve been accepted to is your top choice?
UCLA for sure
@wisegalati Awesome!!! Me too Are you going to Bruin Day on April 11th?
Unfortunately I can’t make it Have fun maybe I’ll see you at orientation

Quick Stats: 2230 SAT (800CR/660M/770W), 4.3 W GPA, 3.9 UW, Ranked 3/470, 3 AP / 2 honors courses senior year (including Pre-Cal; I never got to AP Calc due to a weird scheduling situation…I also didn’t have any honors/AP freshman year for the same reason), some minor awards, laught myself a language (and kinda a weird one at that), lots of leadership, great essays, mixed quality recs
I was really suprised when I found out I got into Penn! Getting waitlisted at Vassar (a match) made me think I was guaranteed to get rejected at all my reaches. This just goes to show how unpredictable the admissions process truely is. Anyway, congrats to everyone on their acceptances!
.
Quick stats: 2340 SAT, 3.93 GPA, 21/~500 class rank, National AP Scholar, All-state horn
Accepted: Cornell, UMD Honors

REJECTED: MIT
Quick Stats: 34 ACT, strong leadership in EC’s, valedictorian, the usual
This was real whirlwind for me, and was very surprising in a lot of ways. Can’t wait to visit some of these and make my decision, although it will be very hard for me to turn down an acceptance from Harvard.

Asian Male California, 2370, top 1% in large public school (Class size ~890)
Really frustrating knowing that Yale and Harvard saw some potential in me yet I didn’t get into any of the schools I wanted Gonna take Cal for now and hope for that small 1% chance I’ll get taken off waitlist
Accepted: USC, San Diego State University (honors), UCSB (honors), University of Oregon (honors)
Rejected: UCLA, Pomona College, Georgetown, UPenn
I’m happy that I got into where I did. It’s currently a matter of deciding between USC and SDSU. The fact that I’m having such a hard time deciding makes me feel confident that there really is no bad option at play here. I’m a little miffed that I didn’t get into UCLA, though I think it’s because my major there was “Undeclared.” Apparently I had a better shot at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts than UCLA for Undeclared? Who knows how this whole college game works. Now, the problem for me will be paying for it, but that’s a whole other issue, haha!
Hi all! I want to congratulate you on your great acceptances!

Hardest I ever worked for anything in my life so far was to try to get in to any one of those schools I was rejected to. But past messups and a rocky start to HS (and ORM status didn’t help either) had me dead in the water I now just realized. Can’t lie, I’m pretty disappointed and feeling like a lot of the things I did were a waste of time. I’m trying to keep positive and maintain perspective on things, but I fear this whole shenanigan might be a big haunting moment in my life.
