Your stats are scaring the hell out of me. What are my chances?

I looked at a few threads here and people's stats are so much higher than mine it's not even funny. And I thought I had a good chance at Rutgers in New Brunswick. I asked for my chances in the Chances forum but I think I might get a different response here.

Sent in my application already. Going to have my GC send my transcript as soon as the break is over.

I'm dying of stress. I am getting good feedback from many people but after looking in this forum...I'm not so sure. I mean, this place is full of people with SATs in 2000s. What do you think? :(

Hey I know what you mean. Everyone is kicking like 2100 around here. My SATs fall a little below yours so I know the stress you're going through, but I think you have as a good change as anyone.

Okay I am going to be completely honest with you. Rutgers New Brunswick is going to be hard for you to get in because of your low SAT score and low GPA. In addition, Rutgers had a priority deadline of Dec.1. That meant that to have the best chance of getting in, you should have sent in all of your materials on or before that date. Those of you sending in your credentials after Dec.1 will only be considered for admission based on how much space is available. And for you, your chances for getting in were bad enough, and now after sending in your things after the priority deadline, I can guarantee you a rejection. I am not trying to be rude or offensive in any way. I am just giving you my honest opinion so that you have enough time to apply elsewhere and not make the same mistakes again. Good luck.

College Hunter: You seem to know what you are talking about; If I have a GPA of 3.8ish to 3.9 What do you think I need to get on the SAT to be competitive for Rutgers???

Also FunkDoc: My cuz got in last year into Rutgers with a GPA of about 3.1 and an SAT score of about 1100 (old one out of 1600); SO I think You still may havea chance if you apply early. But Don't take my advice; as you can see I dont even know whats going on with me. Well Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'm applying to quite a few colleges, so I'm not that upset.

WOAH, CALM DOWN. I don't think your stats are horrible. I don't see Rutgers as being that competetive. It's a state school with an acceptance rate of 61% (New Brunswick Campus) according to Princeton Review. It depends on the size of your school, too. 25% out of 100 or out of 200? What's your combined SAT scores with just CR and Math? It MIGHT hurt that you waited after Dec. 1st because most of the spots have already been filled. Other than that, you have a good shot. GOOD LUCK!! =]

I think reading other people's SATs Scores isnt a good idea. Everyone on this board seems to be mad with 2000+ and there are guys like me and funkdoc who would love that score (Right Funkdoc?)

Hell yes. I'm kind of proud of my 1780 (1190 without Writing) because...sadly it's the highest score in my class, I believe. Our senior class is I think 100 people, and I'm the 20th GPA wise.

to tell u the truth, if ur not going in to pharmacy or engineering for Rutgers, u have a very good chance of getting in. i know people who got around 1700s who got in, but not to pharmacy/ engineering though. Rutgers is not very selective at all. And plus, if ur in NJ, ur chance of getting in is even higher.

Mr. Patel, I would say that with that GPA, you would need a 1200 (M+CR) just to be safe. I personally had a 1250 and a 4.76 GPA.

After I send in my transcript, how long do you think it will take them to notify me of their decision?

Two to three weeks is my guess. I applied before December 1st and received my decision a week and two days later.

OK thanks. I have no idea which college to apply to after getting my acceptance letters (hopefully I'll get a nice selection). Ugh.

Keep the predictions coming, fellas!

i have a question, i applies late early november and still no word. i applied for pharmacy as my first choice, med program as second, and undecided as third. but i really want to do phamacy. i still havent heard anything. at first i though it was the med program thing holding up my decision so i withdrew form that recently but now i dont know. then i thought it was becasue i was african american. my stats are 1200 sat (1800 new) and 3.2 gpa. but 2 of my friends who r also african american jus found out dec. 24 that they got into pharmacy and both of them had sat's lower than mine. why do u thnk my decision is taking so long? anyone please?

sorry i meant to say that i appled earl november (the 1st week)

Hey MsThang, I just sent you a PM before I realized you posted here. Remember me? We shared a little ranting session about why it was taking so long for us to find out. I have around the same stats, applied to pharmacy the same time you did; I too, still have not heard. I think it's a problem with the pharmacy program. I know a lot of people who found out from Rutgers in about two weeks after they applied, but nobody I know applied to pharm but me.

Btw, funkdoc, I would say not to worry. Remember this is cc.com, in my honest opinion this site is made up of the more serious top percentages of the senior classes who are concerned for their future, so it is expected that the people who post here would have higher stats than your average classmate. I know people who have been accepted to RU with stats lower than yours (but they did apply before deadline...)

how come you guys get decisions in 2 days to a week and I still don't have an answer and I sent my stuff a few days before Thanksgiving
