Your user name. What’s the meaning behind it?

I’ll never tell.

I live in a 285 year old tavern.

@HarrietMWelsch I loved that book so much, I actually did some spying a la Harriet around my neighborhood when I was young! So fun.

@cinnamon1212 I also have a dog named Cinnamon!

Male. I’ve mentioned it many many times. The first, and most obvious, is my avatar. You’re welcome.

I’m a bit protective of my kiddos and the year is a pivotal year in my life.

I wish I had a better name. When I first signed up for this site, the first two names I tried were taken. I didn’t expect to be here very much or for very long so i figured the name didn’t really matter and I just hit random keys on the keyboard. This resulted in a garble of letters and numbers that is meaningless. Not surprisingly that name wasn’t taken. And years later, I am stuck with it.

I didn’t think I’d be on this site for 14 years and chose my user name without much thought. Many people here read far more than I do. Still, I lead one of the city book clubs, so I’m sticking with my name.

I didn’t want anything that my kids might possibly recognize! I figured my favorite season was pretty generic. (I am also not the most graceful person and do tend to fall…)

I believe mine is obvious: my role and my location.

I had lurked for a little while and finally joined CC the day S2 was accepted ED at Dartmouth. I was pretty much over the moon.

Also, I am generally a very positive, optimistic, happy person. So it fits.

Mine is not a rabbit. It’s a dog.

It’s a play off our last name. Dh’s name is short on letters, but has alot of syllables and has gone thru a few transformations over the generations- French to Spanish to Anglo-ized. Everyone butchers it!!
So back when DH was a lowly Company O, the CO could NOT get it right and just called him Chaos. It stuck, and then the kids picked it up for awhile when they were playing youth sports.
We don’t use it much anymore, but it’s easy to remember and good for anonymity.

@pishicaca , that’s too bad. Your name intrigues me and I’m always thinking it has something to do with fish, um, poo! No idea why.

My name is pretty obvious: as I said on a similar thread a few years ago, I’m actually a dude named Dave.

I’m adopted and Trenda was my first name on my original birth certificate. I always wondered what it meant…Since nobody knows it, I use it when I want a personal name that still feels anonymous.

Fun question - and interesting responses!

I was an unregistered lurker on this site until I read the great story about what MITChris did for a student who wasn’t admitted. So, my name stands in tribute to him. I’m still in awe.

^^^ @lindagaf - really? I feel like i can usually tell who’s a guy or girl; i’ll read yours a bit more carefully now.

my name explains us. I dont share this website with friends anymore because i’d be too recognizable under certain forums about certain schools. (especially with my avatar.)

I think @stencils has a kind of sweet story about being online here and being discovered . . .

“I’m actually a dude named Dave.”
Not sure I believe it. Guess I’ll just have to not know.

I also needed to be sure my coworkers wouldn’t recognize me. They could have guessed based on my kids’ or the dog’s name, other certain details. They check CC.

I joined many years ago at a time when all three of my kids ran track. And now, that many years later, only one runs…but mostly after his 15-month-old son!

My username is based on my oldest being a competitive fencer. If you’ve watched olympic fencing, you’ve probably noticed that all fencers have their last name and 3 letter country in blue lettering on the back of their fencing vest/jacket. That’s called their stencil, and at the time I joined CC I did all of the stenciling of gear for my Ds fencing club. Thus, stencils was born. At the time, my avatar was a picture of the stencil being placed on the back of a fencing jacket. My middle D is a dancer, so the avatar has changed from the original.

@bgbg4us Ha! Yes, my middle D was watching the accepted students threads for colleges here in CC to see when others were getting results/merit notification/honors college acceptances etc. She didn’t know I post on CC, and in some of those threads, I had posted things like “Yes, still waiting on honors college notification here as well.” She was unknowingly using her dad’s posts as confirmation that she was in the same boat as others, when she was actually one of the “others.” She was mildly broken by this discovery

Years ago I enjoyed collecting Longaberger baskets and baskets in general for home decor (btw, baskets is another thing I would largely put in the decorating now outdated thread!!!). I was also sort of a worrier especially when it came to my family.

So on another board I was a form of “abasketcase” - when I joined here I just shorted it to “abasket”.

@lookingforward and @bgbg4us , I’m kidding! Guess you folks don’t remember that very amusing thread. I wish I could remember what it was called. It was hilarious.

I usually think I know when a user is a male or female, but I’ve definitely been surprised a few times. I had a major shock when I discovered skieurope is female. For years I assumed she was he.
