This is mostly for the guys. I recently received an awesome watch from my grandpa, so I must ask: do you wear a watch? According to my dad, a man's watch says everything about him, and yet most of the guys my age don't even wear one, or if they do it, it's some plastic digital thing that will break in a few months.

Movado is mine. The one in the picture isn't mine specifically but I wear the same model. It's small, neat, and simple. I hate huge watches with numbers and bulges from every angle.

Nope, I don't. Clock in my cellphone functions as a perfectly adequate timepiece for all my needs. Never quite understood the overly ornate watch fetish, anyway...

If I ever do get a watch, it'll be a nigh-indestructable sports utility one with tons of features... I think I'll hold out a bit and let Moore's law play some more so that my watch however many decades from now will have the processing power of today's supercomputer ;] And be capable of who knows what, I'm sure we'll have found some resource intensive task to set it to ;]

moodrets...a watch is a beautiful machine. my current watch...the strap is lizard skin, the dials are ivory, the case is gold, the face sapphire. i'll have it 20 years from now unless someone steals it(and it's really hard to get off, so they'd have to knock me out first)

Wow, that's a really impressive watch. I'm not one for technological specs but that is a very nice-looking..."timepiece". Haha, I'm not sure I could pull it off, though. If you can, more power to you.

I really do like watches, although the one I'm wearing now is the first "real" one I've had [the previous 2 were $20 ones that were practical but not...nice]. This is the one I have right now. Pretty simple but I like it. Looks a lot like this, I can't find it online exactly.

I bought it on a family trip to Japan. Coincidentally, one thing I noticed there - almost everyone wears watches. Certainly all businessmen, even the vast majority of people on the street/subway. Even women and kids. Kind of interesting.

I really like this watch. Might be somewhat impractical but it just looks niiiice.

I'm a girl, but I have the most gorgeous Michael Kors watch...it is possibly my favorite material possession (it's between my watch and my PowerBook G4)...I would have a heart attack if I lost it/it got stolen. It was a present from my grandfather, actually...I think he gave it to me like a year or two ago? I wear it every day at school.

I got a diving watch two summers ago for... well, diving. Luminox Series 3000, water resistant up to 200m with luminous dials. Supposedly used to be a Navy SEAL standard, but I think there's too much hype about it. A bit pricey, but it works.

chris2k5...don't get a gucci watch. it's just a cheapo with a fancy brand name. same with a lot of other clothing companies, they use watches as a way to cash in on their brands.

I recommend a Breitling or TAG. My breitling was, i think, 7k, but it was because of the gold case. most breitlings are between 3k and 4k. And you can get a great TAG for under 2k.

also, only buy watches at jewelry stores. the ones online are cheaper because they don't have manufacturer's warranties.

Plastic digital tings usually don't break often. But I wear an analog watch now. Casio that cost about $35 (retail more) that makes people think it's something else. I like it, though it is on the heavy side.
