We’ve signed up as a family to do a turkey trot in Florida ! We will be there thanksgiving week for a wedding and whenever we’ve traveled locally during thanksgiving, we try to do this.
H’s only requirement was that we check the time and make sure we can make it to the morning event we are invited to (pre-wedding festivities!).
Normally, I work out at 11, but I met a friend for an early lunch today so have yet to run. And now, I don’t want to. It’s soooo cold. Wah wah wah. Taking off the fleece-lined leggings and getting on the dumb treadmill. See you on the flippety flip.
ETA: Done and showered and now settling in for the baseball game.
November is here! Are you pumping yourself up to participate? Tell us what you’ve been doing to start or continue a wellness activity to help you be ready to walk/bike/run/whatever with us!
I about killed myself and my laptop running on the treadmill. I guess now that I’m running at a higher speed the lip that the laptop has been resting on will not suffice. In good news, the arms on the side of the treadmill did there job while I tried to save the falling laptop and then myself.
I walk the dog every morning before work in the wee hours and MAN, was it cold the last two days. Getting used to going out - even in the cold - is good outdoor winter prep!
GOOD JOB! Sometimes I think that my vibrant, mobile 96 year old Dad owes some of his good fortune to his energetic chocolate lab a few decades ago who required a long evening walks.
It took me a good long time to get out for a run today. I was lazy and also waiting for temps to get into low 50s. It was lovely, all the Saturday night snow dried up leaving the dirt portions of the trail nice and dry. My time for 5k was under 40 minutes, which per MapMyRun has not happened since May 25th. (Yea, I prefer the cooler weather - love this thread.)
Afterward I took an iphone photo for my CC pals, even though it does not capture the grandeur of being there in person
I walk a minimum of 4 miles every day. Today was no exception and I was out today with a friend. Gorgeous sunshine but icy sidewalks. (photo from last week as I didn’t think to take a picture today).
I’m saving the beauty of my running route landscape (giggle) for the “race.” I love running in cold weather, but sometimes it is hard getting out of a warm bed into a cold house and then out for a colder run by yourself in the dark. I like to put my running clothes in the dryer for a few minutes to warm them up. I also find having a hat helps.
My runs lately have been feeling better than usual. Not sure why, but I will take it!
Well, I got a last-minute invite for a walk at the lake so here are two pics from that 3.25-mile trek … safer than the treadmill! The one with the sun glare is of an engaged couple on the left (you can only see him) and a guy on the right who was operating a drone to get them with the water and the skyline in the background. I thought it was a cool idea.
I have unlocked the key to training – run while watching the fourth quarter of a UT football game. You are so stressed by the game you forget to care about how long you’ve run.
Can somebody let me know how many steps that would be. Running, no way. I broke an ankle and both feet last year, but tbh, I wouldn’t have done it before . But like @MMRose, I’d swim it any day.
