You're Invited! The CC FRIENDSGIVING and JINGLE ALL THE (do it) YOUR WAY" 5K!

Not too many! A 5k is 3.1 miles and apparently there are about 2,100 steps on a mile when walking.

I’ll stick to the swimming.

Any chance you’re in SoCal?

No,but grew up in the OC as a swimmer. In MA now and looking into Masters here.

Nice fall morning in the desert for a half marathon trail run.

Yep 3 miles would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 6000 steps.

Love the idea of swimming!

Nice!

I’m planning on swimming it also. I am in SoCal. @MMRose, are you as well?

Yes!

LOL, for any of us who practice fitness with a fitness device…this rings so true - the watch tells you when you are doing a lot and not enough - AND apparently like this too much!!!

I figured out how to watch my laptop while running on the treadmill and not kill myself or the laptop. That’s a resistance band holding it in place!

I walk an hour every day. It was in the 30’s today, and rainy dampness made it feel colder. I admit to being a wimp - I bundled up in my warmest coat, gloves & a hat. But I wasn’t cold, so it was okay. I used to run, but my body no longer allows me to pound the ground like that - so I’ll walk my 5k. I’ll try to find something at least somewhat interesting for my route.

I’m in! I am still considering a 5K at the local lake on Thanksgiving Day, but either way I am in here.

For the first time, I ran using my Apple watch to track my distance rather than the treadmill, thinking I’d be using my watch on race day. Wow! What a difference. I did this same run (.5-mile jog, 1-mile run, .5-mile jog, .5-mile run) two days ago and it took me 5-6 minutes longer using the treadmill to measure distance. As usual, I assume the Apple watch is the better gauge. At least I hope so!

I did a 5k today! My training said to do .5 mile jog, 1 mile run, 1 mile jog, .7 mile run.

Woot! Am I a runner again??? :running_woman:t4: :woman_shrugging:t4:

You were a runner before. Yay you! I need to start running again. I can barely do .25 nowadays when 3 miles used to be easy for me. I will join to get my butt in gear but have a really really busy weeks until thanksgiving. Willing to do 1 mile everyday after thanksgiving until the end of the month.

I always say, it’s your game to play- do what works for you as long as something gets done and you feel good about it!

I went on a walk on this gorgeous fall day. I definitely got in over 2.5 miles but stopped when I stopped to talk to a neighbor and didn’t want to track the rest of that.

I had not planned to run today. (Washed my hair before church, and usually that would make it a no-run day). Decided to do leaves and yardwork instead. But oh, my - the sunshine in the yard was just lovely so after an hour I decided it really would be a running day. Temp was about 60 degrees when I started, a bit cooler at end of 5k. My very favorite running weather. (Yes, I did shower. I’ll wash my hair tomorrow.)

:running_woman: Ran my 5k in 38:45. That’s the fastest I’ve done since… wait for it (as I scroll back in the MapMyRun history)…. 7/1/2022  This surprised me since I run year round and had assumed that sometime last fall/winter I would have had a fast pace.

Wow, look at those 41 stair flights! Are you in a hilly area or were you carrying load after load of laundry up stairs!!!

I think we decided that our “FRIENDSGIVING” event would “officially” be Nov. 15-30 - we are almost there! But love the support and “friendly” banter that has developed on this thread for this group health and wellness activity!

Looking forward to seeing more of that along with pics/comments about what you did for your “do it your way” 5k…more or less!
