I'm planning on joining the Youth Action Council. All the do is basically volunteer at a variety of different locations and have monthly meetings. I'm not sure how I can present this in my college application though. Do you write what you were apart of (i.e. Youth Action Council) or do you write the volunteer activities you were involved in that you did as apart of the Youth Action Council?? I'm not only doing this for the apps but I would like to have colleges see this as something that I'm compassionate about. How does one convey their involvement in these volunteer activities to colleges? Do you have to waste space in your essay to talk about it or..?? I mean, there are so many things to write about and you can only fit so much..

What other volunteer opportunities are out there for someone who is interested in the sciences? Should I focus my volunteering on my major or what? I'm very perplexed as to what I should do.. I really want to help and do something but there are just so many things that I can choose from and I want to choose the perfect match that I can devote much of my effort and time into doing.
