does youth group count as a good extra curricular for college?

Just attending or a series of increasingly responsible leadership roles?

I don't think youth group would count for much, with a religious school much less a secular one, if it's just attending.

Do youth groups have "leadership roles?" I was really active in one for a couple years, went to various camps and helped with Sunday School and fundraising, but we never had leadership roles for the members.

My D and S are members of our youth group's leadership team that does planning and organization.

They don't have titles such as '"president," "vice-president," "senior patrol leader," etc., but they meet weekly with the adult leadership in advance of the regular youth group meeting time. In addition, they helped plan the youth mission trip, including helping choose the projects to be undertaken.

My D helped write, produce, and perform a "movie" about heroes that was shown at a vacation bible school for high school students in the youth mission-receiving community.

Her homeschool transcript shows, under the name of our church:

Co-Narrator, 2007 Adult Christmas Cantata
Co-Narrator, Communion Scripture Reading
Scripture Reader, Sunday Morning Worship Services
Multiple Dramatic Roles, Sunday Morning Worship Services
“Danger Rangers” Dramatic and Leadership Team, 2008 Youth Mission

My D's recommenders include our pastor and a teacher from our church who knows my D very well. Their recommendations highlighted and expounded upon my D's leadership role at the church.

I hope this will help.
